No offense taken, but I would like to address this to all PIPSTERS, especially those who now choose to judge me for my post of questions, and in the next breath are putting me down for not asking enough questions. Go figure.
I was not involved during the time when the conventions were taking place. I did not get involved until June or July of 2005.
As for my due diligence, I was lacking in that area. I took the words of people I trusted and still trust. I figured the proof was in the pudding and the pudding looked good to me. I am not convinced that I will not come out ahead in this whole scenario. No one can take that from me, I don't care how nasty they choose to get. It is my choice to believe what I believe and it is my choice to not judge anyone for what they believe. Am I wrong to expect the same from everyone else involved? It is in my born again nature to believe the best of everyone. Even those who get nasty and mean. I've had bad things happen to me too.
One thing that I feel HAS TO COME ACROSS HERE IS..........WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT! I don't care how you try to explain it, or where your loyalties lie, PIPS has dealt each and everyone of us the same hand. It is what we choose to do with that hand that will make the difference.
And........"Those who live in glass houses should not throw rocks!" Did not each and every one of us invest/loan money to PIPS? What makes one of us better than the other? Nothing!
So, I would like to know how one person can judge another for their assumed lack of due diligence. This is beyond me! Seems to me those who claim to have done their DD should be held at a greater degree of accountability. Maybe that is why they are so mad?

Monica - you can go ahead and ask all the questions you want.
These fraudulent schemes ALWAYS depend on the word of the cheerleaders convincing their recruits that there is no need to ask any questions. And the meetings that I have seen on video are typical - any critical factor is blunted by the razzmatazz that surrounds the principals. Particularly sickening I found were those who offered their (apparently) unsolicited testimonials to the Marsdens.
As I said in a previous posting, it is a salutary experience to go back through the earlier postings of these cheerleaders and compare them with events as they have unwound.
But it is encouraging to see how little has occurred to change the general tenor of my book. Unfortunately for the poster who was offering it as a free but illegal download, the offer is no longer available and he may well find himself with a bill for these!
However, I am all in favour of allowing as many as possible to read the book and thus, if anyone wishes to contact me by E-Mail, I have arranged for them to receive a complimentary copy.

Hi Owen,
So you are the infamous author of "the book"! Nope, I haven't read it. Just heard lots of things about you that aren't so very nice (surprise, surprise), but I am not into bashing anyone and I take insults and accusations with a grain of salt.
Since you have given me permission, I would like to ask you a couple of questions if I may and please, forgive my ignorance, and let me assure you that it is genuine..........
1) Did you invest/loan into PIPS?
2) What was your motivation for writing this book?
If I had already read your book and knew more about the whole PIPS scenario and how it all got started I might be able to ask more indepth questions. But as it is, your answers may be the deciding factor as to if I will indeed be doing more investigating.
I sincerely would like to know if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks,
Monica

Of course not, Monica.
No I didn't (and it's safe to say I never would have) invest in Pips. My background includes a long stint in offshore banking and I have seen enough of these "pie in the sky" schemes to last a lifetime.
And it was written because writing books is what I do for a living and at the suggestion of my agent who had read an article in the London Guardian newspaper on Pips. I had previously written a book on the offshore banking swindle, FIBG, which had been very well received.
You might like to take a look at my website which also includes my daily "blog." It's in my profile here.
Cheers,
Owen.
