Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

Funny, yes, he or she must be joking, for the argument died months ago.

    Good luck to all, Mike

    Default Iraq New Dinar

I also wonder how many of those notes (1000 dinars and up) are currently circulating. If there was a big peg happening soon I suppose these would get pretty rare. Would be a waste of money since they cost alot to make.
Also, if the currency is to gain value shortly, they would need to produce truckloads of smaller denominations very quickly to compensate.

    So my questions are:

    1. How many notes worth 1000 and up are circulating or have been printed?
    and
    2. Does iraq have smaller denominations than 25 dinar? Like Kuwait for example have "Fils" as pennies. If they don't, what will happen when the peg comes?
    Good questions,

They are already printing truckloads of smaller currency, and they can add new currency notes as needed, so it is simply a matter of shuffling the deck on currency denominations, so the large notes will be phased out just as they were in US years ago. Imagine a cheap looking copper coin worth $8.00, almost funny, so if you look at coins, they could easily be revalued on a timeframe exchange basis, or come out with new coins too.

    Good luck to all, Mike

    Default Fox News Report

    Dear Adster,

I was wondering when someone would be bringing the news special up.
I'm an avid Fox News fan, I watched the first run of "Winning Iraq". It was
a good report, with what appears to be the best attempt to get at the truth in awhile. Very informative, and not all rosey. Well worth the watch.
Also, decided I would more than likely pick up a few more dinar while the gettin' was still good.
Thanks for the heads up on this one.

    Interesting,

Yes, it was a very well done behind the scenes look at Iraq economy and how free enterprize is thriving in most areas. Overall, it was excellent, and with Rumsfield's scathing revue of main stream press, I suspect more positive articles will start to emerge due to FOX. I understand CNN, the king of negative war monger reporters showed non stop killings as a counter point. Sad bunch CNN is, veyr biased, always have been.

    Good luck to all, Mike

I bought more Dinar today from another Compass bank branch here in Austin, Tx. Price was a smidge higher than my last purchase, but nothing to get alarmed over. I bought what I did today for X-Mas presents for my kiddos. Looking for endgame results on or near the first of the year myself, although that is just my educated opinion.
