Bush speech:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,177925,00.html
The most important things he said, imho, are that IMF and Iraq completed a report card on Iraq's economy(needed for the stand-by arrangement). Bush also said that this is a signal to the rest of the world that Iraq is serious about joining the world economic scene(WTO). Also, Bush said that the people of Iraq are intelligent and educated and need jobs(the main key to the economic recovery). He further said that there were a lot of small businesses starting up in Iraq and the economy will be further improved, helping them to flourish.
Looking real good. Now we need to see the SBA approved by the IMF in the weeks ahead, and also a successful election process next week.Last edited by Adster; 07-12-2005 at 07:24 PM.
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.
Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

I just came back to take a look at the rolclub forum and then I noticed this thread ...
Don't you people read the news, research the web and listen to what the governments say about this SCAM? Don't invest in worthless iraqui dinar - you will NEVER make any profit from this new kind of investment scam ...

I'm wondering about some things... the smallest denomination of iraqi currency I could find is currently 25 dinars, which is a copper coin basically. If there is a peg to say 0.33us/dinar, this coin would be worth 8$.
I also wonder how many of those notes (1000 dinars and up) are currently circulating. If there was a big peg happening soon I suppose these would get pretty rare. Would be a waste of money since they cost alot to make.
Also, if the currency is to gain value shortly, they would need to produce truckloads of smaller denominations very quickly to compensate.
So my questions are:
1. How many notes worth 1000 and up are circulating or have been printed?
and
2. Does iraq have smaller denominations than 25 dinar? Like Kuwait for example have "Fils" as pennies. If they don't, what will happen when the peg comes?
