Yeah but the antichrist guy is supposed to be charming and popular as part of his facade and we all know Ahmadinejad has the about as much charm as a turd in a punchbowl...maybe less.

(MENAFN) A Deputy in the Iraqi Parliament has expected the rate of the Iraqi dinar to continue to rise against the US dollar to reach 1200 dinars to the dollar by the middle of this year, up from 1480 in November 2006, Iraq Directory reported.

The deputy, who was addressing the Parliament in a session to discuss the general budget in Iraq during the year 2007, said that the high rates of inflation cam because of the unbalance between the nominal rate of the Iraqi dinar compared to its real one which prompted the Iraqi Central Bank to raise the value of the dinar gradually since November 2006 to reach about 1320 dinar per dollar in January 2007.

It is worth mentioning that there has been widespread demand among Iraqi investors and citizens to deal in Iraqi dinars instead of US dollars
I'd be concerned if this guy had any say in the matter but fortunately for us he does not.

On the bright side he at least recognizes the need to raise it citing the difference between the nominal and real rates. It tells you he has read some IMF info on the matter and that's about it other than rendering his opinion. With the article IV talk you know this guys opinion has its flaws. He will be just as happy as us when it RV's.
It seems that the state insists, or preserve the value of the Iraqi dinar 148 against the dollar ...Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states [ MOF Sept 2006]

High RV is like Coke; its the real thing baby!

Well...interesting diversion, this talk of war with Iran...I have been through the straits of Hormuz, and I can tell you that once aggression starts, all traffic in and out of the Persian Gulf will STOP. NOTHING will go in, and NOTHING will come out. Geographically speaking the area is very tight--Maybe three miles wide (cant quite remember, it's been a while), and while that may sound like plenty of room, when you're dealing with "unlimited tonnage" ships, close quarters, shoals, tides, winds and 2 way traffic, 3 miles is nothing...especially when you consider that most Military type ship captains don't like to get any closer than 2 miles to ANYTHING...

I have seen many programs, read many articles about people who have ventured to Iran and report that the PEOPLE are very friendly, very open to Americans...they don't neccessarily appreciate our government, but, well, I don't always appreciate my government...it's unfortunate that their government does not reflect the good will of it's people...But, Again, my government often does not reflect my wishes...

Careful with this light talk of stomping through foreign lands...we have more in common with these people than you may think.

Cheers, OrdinarySeaWoman (still not on the boat!)

    Good Point OSW,
I agree with you wholeheartedly, but we have no beef with the good guys there...the 'bad apples' need to take a long, hard look at a jar of apple sauce though . Most of the people in any country would have no problems out of us. Yes, in any conflict, innocents are inadvertently killed and to me that is very sad. There are the bad ones though that have everything to worry about...and like Forest Gump says, "That's all I got to say about that."
Be careful and return home safely,
    Patty

Sorry OSW, my only experience is chasing the dirtbags back across their border - the few bad apples, with guns/explosives. I'm glad we genetically engineer our apples to be sweet!
