do you suppose that if some of these things were indeed complete they would tell us about it and spoil their 'economic package announcment' ??
i believe the de-baath article came out the other day and just because we write a new amendment onto an existing law here we dont stop the law and discontinue enforcing it while the amendment is being written. if the reval was in the pension law as i believe it was then it has been passed.
on the thought of debt relief one must consider also the fact that a neighbor country without currency value that is somewhat par is a burden on your countries economy because ppl will cross the border to buy cheaper. hence why it would be in the neighboring countries best interest to make sure iraq gets their currency up there close so they dont lose more customers to them. and i believe the neighbors know very well they will get with the program once debt relief is established. i mean, wouldnt you?

Iraqi cabinet approves oil draft law
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01 May 2007 (MENAFN)
The Iraqi Prime Minister said that the Iraqi Cabinet accepted a draft law which states how Iraq's oil profits will be shared, it will also outline terms of how foreign oil agencies will be able to operate in the country, Iraq Development Program reported.
Under the terms of the new draft law, the Iraqi National Oil Company (INOC) will be independently functional and joined with oil companies around the country.
Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister stated that the oil sector's profits will be put in a central account and distributed according to population and that the draft law will be put into action by the end of this month.

Sunni Ministers Threaten to Quit Cabinet in Iraq
BAGHDAD, April 30 — The largest bloc of Sunni Arabs in the Iraqi Parliament threatened to withdraw its ministers from the Shiite-dominated cabinet on Monday in frustration over the government’s failure to deal with Sunni concerns.
President Bush stepped in to forestall the move, calling one of Iraq’s two vice presidents, Tariq al-Hashimi, a Sunni Arab, and inviting him to Washington, according to a statement issued by Mr. Hashimi’s office and the White House.
The bloc, known as the Iraqi Consensus Front and made up of three Sunni Arab parties, “has lost hope in rectifying the situation despite all of its sincere and serious efforts to do so,” the statement said.
If the Sunni group followed through on its threat, it would further weaken a government already damaged by the pullout two weeks ago of six cabinet ministers aligned with the renegade Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr and further erode American efforts to promote reconciliation between Sunnis and Shiites.
Also on Monday, the White House expressed concern about a report in The Washington Post that aides to Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki were involved in the arrests or removal of at least 16 army and police commanders, at least nine of whom are Sunni, who had been fighting Shiite militias.
“We’re aware of the reports, we’re concerned about them, and those are the kinds of things we do discuss with the Iraqis that will be a focus of conversations,” said the White House spokesman, Tony Snow. But he added that the Maliki government had taken aggressive enforcement actions in Shiite neighborhoods in the past.
