    Default Currency exchanger..

I had a experience today I will share so no one else makes the mistake I almost made.. I just visited Travelex a currency exchanger in USBank...asked her if she was familiar with the dinar because I've collected some and tho its not on the World Market I just wanted to get an idea of procedure for when it pegs.. I was going to pull out a 10 & 25k and she stopped me and said Not to show it to her or she would have to confiscate it.. because being it is Not yet on the world market it is still property of Iraq and would legally need to be confiscated... I thanked her and we talked..They will charge 1% of what is exchanged up to $4-$5000 and over that will be exchanged by giving a check to be deposited... unfortunately she does not have the same connections as the Dinargang so I won't even post what she says about time frame or why... I figure she is just guessing and giving a personal opinion based on what she sees on the news... I also visited Bank of America .. didn't show them the dinar but their procedure is... To give you a receipt for the dinar you give them.. it will take a few days for them to verify the authenticity before they will credit your acct... I asked her if they had a "De La Rue machine" in the bank and she said no.. the dinar would have to be sent to their exchange currency department... to me this is abit dissappointing... so Im still shopping around for faster procedure... if any one has any suggestions on faster and better ways to exchange please post ..I would think it would benefit us all... I will still probably panic when it's time but at least have a game plan of sorts... libby

First of all, that woman you spoke to is totally ignorant so pay her no mind whatsoever. You will want to exchange your dinars at a bank branch that is designated as an international teller site and handles dinars. Or you will want to go to a large international airport that has a currency exchange window available. Do not let those dinars leave your sight no matter what. I am sure you would be allowed to supervise as they run your notes through the De La Rue unit. If they won't allow this...go somewhere else. Don't trust anyone with those dinars!!!

Danny thanks for your response... The woman at Travelex does handle international currency.. but as you said she evidently does is not up on the time frame of the dinar pegging... you can bet I'm not going to not let the dinar out of sight until I've been given full credit.. thats why I was disappointed B of A did not have the machine on sight to be able to verify it on the spot... I'm going to find out where the currency exchange dept is in case its necessary to drop in. I'd be willing to pay a higher exchange rate if necessary to know its a one stop procedure... I'm abit nervious about any of the exchangers being able to deal with the amounts we will be needing to exchange without raising red flags... I also don't mind multiple trips to the air port if necessary... I've never had this problem before..

Yes, I want to secound that opinion. There is no way in H E double hocky sticks that I'm allowing my dinar out of my site for even a moment. Also, at first, I suggest that you only exchange one note, just to see how the process works. We are talking about a lot of money here so, don't take any chances.

Default Most Dealers Are Registered With US Treasury

I also have a question which may have been answered before, excuse me if it has. But reading about the Dinar becoming 'legal' internationally traded currency. I known when I travel overseas, I have to declare how much money I am brining back into the US, how are the Dinar dealers handling this now, and what repercussions are there for those of us who are buying from dealers outside of the US ? IF any.

Think I will go and buy some more !

Most dealers that I've spoken to claim that they are registered with the US Treasury so, I suspect that the US government is aware of all or at least most of the dinars that are in the US.

Boy, someone is a bit paranoid. By the way... I agree. Don't let them out of your site. Go to a main branch. They will probably have a De La Rue machine. I will make an appointment to sit down with someone to go over each bill.

I agree here. I would never let those dinars out of my sight lol. Especially if one $10k bill is actually worth just over $10k. I actually won't have the problems that you guys will have or at least I don't think so. I bought all of my dinars from my local bank and I have all of the receipts that came with them so I would imagine that I just have to show them the receipts and say listen, I got these dinars from YOU so there's no need to authenticate them lol. My bank doesn't have a de la rue machine so they had better just use my receipt as proof that they are all legit bills. Sorry for rambling on but I just don't know what to do with myself while waiting for these dinars to PEGGGG. I'm just dying to tell someone in my family about what I've been up to LOL. Hope it won't be too much longer now hehe.

    Cheers all,

    Rob
