This latest rumor has all the identifying marks of every successful rumor.

It starts out with a credible source - a woman - because we just can't imagine that a woman would willfully lie to us.

That person lives in Washington DC. We're supposed to imagine that there is a link to The White House or The Congress

She has been known for years and can be trusted absolutely. The message here is - just relax and believe.

Then comes the 'double deep reference'. Not only does she know, but it's confirmed through even more trusted relatives from - you guessed it - Washington DC

The substance of her information is relayed in the classic rumor format:

1. A definite date to get the blood flowing and just far enough away to help make the time pass:

THE RV WILL OCCUR WEDNESDAY 10/24/07

2. Reference to an actual amount causing us to tabulate our earnings and begin again to look at new homes and new cars:

THE AMOUNT WILL BE GREATER THAN 1:1

3. A solid indicator that it has already been done, so we can relax and bask in the wonderful feelings that come with financial freedom:

THIS IS A DONE DEAL AS ALL THE PAPERS WERE SIGNED OFF ON IT TWO WEEKS AGO

4. Finally, that touch of credibility that can only come from association with banking institutions:

BANKS AROUND THE WORLD HAVE BEEN TOLD TO PREPARE


This is a 'text book perfect' rumor

I HOPE IT'S FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would the world bank front the money for Sadam's unrecovered loot if the GOI wasn't in a hurry to do something? I mean, if the reval or slow increase was way down the road, why rush reimbursing the GOI? There's alot of weird stuff happening at the moment and EVERYTHING is being rushed through the GOI to implement right away, so I say somethings coming and soon.

The bank employees won't know till the day before, (the really top knobs would know a few days before) but can you imagine if they all knew a week in advance?! Family and friends would be buying up in a frenzy if they knew within a week it would be equivalent to the dollar.

Those bank people, may be attempting to buy, but then, they may be the cause of everyone else's problems in getting delay in delivery.......just a thought.

True - but you must admit there are lots of hills in Washington DC. There's a big difference between the hill and The Hill.

Yes, true, there are many hills for sure, but in reality, anything coming from any hill in DC is not worth a hill of beans. (g)

Exactly! I keep reminding myself that they are rushing to push thru World Trade Organization acceptance - it all spells reval. Of course, the big question is how much and when.
