Technically yes. However, it was done with the blessing of the ICG and the CBI.

Current currency was printed in 2003 after coalition ousted Saddam, so all currency in circulation is curent government notes.

    Good luck to all, Mike

OK, I believe this to be the meaning of that article...

"Iraq is considering redenominating the dinar, printing new banknotes to remove inflation-generated zeros from its currency", the finance minister said on Thursday.
    Meaning:
Iraq is poised to release the lower denominations that have already been printed so that they could be used in normal every day commerce once the value of the dinar has been raised to near parity to the dollar.

Senior government and central bank officials have told Reuters the proposal has been under consideration for some time to "make one new dinar equal to 1,000 current dinars, a move that would bring the currency closer to parity with the U.S. dollar".
    Meaning:
Simultaneously along with the release of the smaller denominations, the value of the 1,000 dinar (which is now worth .68 dollars) will become the value of the newly released 1 dinar. By doing this, it would bring the currency closer to the same value of the USD.

Make sense to me! 1 dinar = .68 USD or 1,000 dinar = $680 USD This would equate to the 25,000 dinar = $17,000 USD
Isn't this good news!! 1dinar to be worth the current 1000dinar I just be glad when it gets done. And when it does "REMEMBER" just cash in what you need to get out of debt. Cause if will go high quickly. Once it is valued equal to the dollar, it will be a hard dissicion for alot of people to hang on to the rest. Those that use the third at a time ideal will be more into the profits. So dont get to excited at first revalue. Just get out of "DEBT". That was most of us Goals.

#2 You will receive instructions on
how and where to send your Dinar.
Print that form and send along with
    your Dinar
    and handling payment as
    the instructions will explain.

#3 We will inspect your Dinar and
your paperwork. If we accept it, we
will exchange it for the current
    exchange rate, deduct a 5%
    exchange fee and send your
payment to you within 3-4 weeks

If we do not accept the authenticity,
source or condition, we will ship it
    back to you.

Treater....Please don't tell me that you would ship off your dinars and be so trusting! I, personally...and quite a few others won't let theirs out of their site even at the bank when it comes time to exchange. It would be TOO EASY for the bank associate to take a stack to 'verify the authenticity' of the notes and come back and say "there were three 25,000 notes that were fraudulant" or "you mis-counted...you were one short..." meanwhile the notes are tucked in his/her pocket for them to exchange for themselves!

Again...perhaps I've watched too many movies or tv shows...not sure...

I just got off the phone with HSBC Bank and I opened an account...the CSR told me that there have been quite a few inquiries about the Iraqi Dinar...and I called my local branch...I must be among a few secret dinar holders here in WNY! lol!

Everyone can do what they wish at the time we can exchange...but I know that I'm not sending my "babies" in the mail! Imagine sending $1million dollars in the mail......nuh-uh...no-way!

You beat me to it! Went and looked at that site and thought the same thing. "I'm going to send my dinars to someone I don't know, have no relationship with, and trust them to be honest? I Don't Think So?
