Just a quick report from the Denver desk. I just talked to a nice lady at the main Chase bank here and asked if Chase would be exchanging dinar. There seemed to be a fair bit of rustling around and she told me that there was a LOT of conversation about it at the upper management levels, but as far as she knew, Chase would not be exchanging. First she said it was because it was so worthless. I said, well what about when it revalues? She said she didn't think they would even then, because of.......the patriot act. Anyone else heard this one? She said they because of the US government they probably wouldn't be allowed to exchange even when it did revalue. hmmmm. Before anymore versions came out I thanked her and hung up. I think I'll try Wells Fargo here in a while and see what they have to say.

There are many Chase banks that currently exchange the dinar. The comment about the Patriot act shows how ill informed some are. It's similar to the comments by other banks that they won't trade the dinar because we are "at war" with Iraq. Trust me, if you take your dinar to almost any bank, after a significant revalue, will gladly open an account for you and let you exchange your dinar and deposit the cash with them.

Where's the BS flag?! I'm sure the Patriot Act is going to stop the US government getting millions if not billions from taxes when you lot cash in! LOL.
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

Yep, we've heard this before, another employee that is clueless. What has the Patriot Act got to do with exchanging one legal tender for another? Oh, it's Iraqi, so we must gotten it directly from Osama Bin Laden? Seriously, I remember another poster here saying that Chase told him/her that there would be no exchanging of the dinar because, "we're at war WITH Iraq".. Don't pay it no nevermind Kristin!

Plus the news was really dead this week out of iraq, the president website hasn't been updated in 3 days, something smells like a cow patty folks!!
I don't believe they deliver on Saturdays , but you might be able to pick it up at the local Fed-Ex counter on Saturday if Safe-Diner got it to Fed-Ex on Friday before 3 pm. You can check your package on line if you use the Shipment Number to see if it arrived at the local terminal. If it is COD Collect, you must have a Bank or P.O. Money Order to pick it up..

    Exclamation Look closely....

Here is the now-famous article in it's entirety:

    Unemployment at 50%, says minister

    By Ikhlas Majeed

    Azzaman, December 14, 2006

Nearly half of Iraqis able to work are idle, said Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

Mohamed Radhi said the high jobless rate was devastating to a country torn by sectarian strife and violence.

He said combating unemployment was as important as the fight against ‘terror’. Joblessness plays into the hands of ‘terrorists’, he said.

He said he had drawn a plan to provide short-term loans to families willing to start up their own businesses particularly those who depend on social benefits for a living.

“This project will contribute to defeating terror and terrorists who target sources of energy and labor. As a result unemployment has reached more than 50 per cent in some provinces,” he said.

He said he had 100,000 small-sized projects in mind and has urged the government set aside enough allocations to have the scheme in place in 2007.

Each family will be given a loan of 10,000 dinars (approx. $6,600) to start the project, he said.

Notice that each of the last 5 statements have the words "he said" attached to them. This means nobody editted the statements and they were printed as in the first person. Also, if you multiply 10,000 dinar by the number of "projects in mind" that amounts to 1 billion dinar. At the current rate of 1411 that equates to $708,717.00 which is about $7.09 per project !!

This tells me the rest of the media outlets will be all over this article for us in the next couple days.... This little leak is making it's way around the globe as we type, so the coming hours/days will be quite a thrill!!

    Enjoy the ride folks!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted. Even to the naysayers. I get even more excited when I hear good news about getting closer to telling them, "I told you so." Keep up the good work all. You have really helped us ignorant fellows who don't know squat about politics and the like.
