    Atakiid Central Bank of foreign transfers and foreign currency

    Central Bank of Iraq issued a statement responding to rumors that surfaced recently on the Bank's intention to restrict foreign transfers and transactions in foreign currency.

    Oil Ministry renewed its call for Iraq's parliament to speed up legislation in the oil and gas.

    Iraqi court discharges Tariq Aziz, condemns Chemical Ali to death in Friday Prayer Case

    The Iraqi High Criminals Court headed by Judge Rauf Rashid Abdel Rahman discharged Tariq Aziz, Saif al-den al-Mashhadani, Ogla abd Sagir and Ibrahim Saheb Karam in the case of the Friday Prayer in 1999 when the former regime assassinated Ayatollah Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr and other peoples.

    Meanwhile, Chemical Ali, Mahmud Faizi Muhammad and Aziz Saleh Hassan were sentenced to death and Latif Nesaif Jassem and Muhammad Zimam Abdel Razaq were sentenced to life imprisonment in the same case.

    Iran-Syria-Turkey-Iraq power network to be formed

    Iran's energy minister here on Saturday announced that a quadripartite electricity network will be formed among Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey.

    IRNA quoted Parviz Fattah as saying that the energy ministers of the four countries will soon hold a meeting in this regard in Baghdad.

    With the power generating capacity of 120,000 MW, the four countries are considered as powerful countries in the world in the field of generating energy.

    Fattah went on saying that Iran is establishing two thermal power plants in Iraq one with the neighboring country's investment and the other one as a joint venture.

    Construction of Syria's Tashrin power plant is another project underway by Iran that has been invested by Syria.

    Iraq: Cabinet approves investment system

    The Iraqi cabinet on Sunday approved the introduction of the investment system no. 2 of the year 2009, according to a cabinet statement.

    The investment system includes the tasks and powers of the Iraq National Investment Commission (INIC), according to a statement released by the National Media Center and received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

    Maliki welcomed the willingness of Japanese companies for the second Economic Forum held in Baghdad this year, an update of the first forum held in the Jordanian capital, as a step for the development of relations between the two countries.

    Meanwhile the head of the delegation congratulated the Prime Minister of Japan security and economic successes in Iraq, along with the success of provincial elections, adding that Japanese companies want to contribute to the industry a victory in Iraq through its contribution to strong and effective in the process of construction and reconstruction.
