I have also learnt a lot. Since July 2005 I have spent perhaps 2 hours a day on this forum and read a lot about Iraq and other ME countries. I ventured to buy a few dinar by the end of September 2005 and continued on from there but in a small way. If it never r/v I have no regrets whatsoever. Of course that is easy to say knowing full well that an r/v is just around the corner. I wonder how many of you think the same about this ride as the above quoted poster? He/she quotes that ALL will be happy to get off this ride. Is that true? I will be happy when the dinar r/v but hope that this will not be the end of the dinar section in R/C! Here’s to the 28th!!!!!!
i feel like you do webster. also the posters who keep bad mouthing the iraqis calling them lazy simply because they havent been paid yet, as if thats the blame of the iraqis themselves. these debts and this muck all came from the saddam era and now the iraqis are lazy because of his mess?? how do you figure? i am grateful to the iraqi people, because of their strife my family will forever be indebted.

anyone who complains about this venture shouldnt be allowed to profit from it. no one forced you people to buy anything yet you expect to reap the rewards after youve proven youre not worthy.
    JULY STILL AINT NO LIE!!!

    franny, were almost there!!

What's it called when the GOI can only turn out 30% of its members for meetings? If that isn't lazy & ungrateful, for having a very well paid job, I don't know what is.

Try fear....afraid to travel to your well paid job because the odds are you won't make it that far. Or if you're fortunate enough to get there safely....dying when a suicide bomber blows himself up while you try to eat your lunch.

    Smile Some call them lazy!

The thing to understand is that the Iraqi upper class was made up of baathist, sunni's. Who where displaced when we invaded. The middle class was smart enough and had just enough money to flee during the last 20 years of Sadam's rule. So that leaves the lower class in country at this time. They are mostly uneducated and incapable of running a country effectively. Although given the time constraints they haven't done to bad a job.

Take a look at how long it took us to write our constitution and the time frame we have spent on new laws. We have expectations that they should do things in half the time and with NO arguement.

I think things have gone pretty well time wise, given all that they are up against on a daily basis.

Doesn't mean I don't wish for a reval yesterday, just means I won't go calling names of the Iraqi's because they are holding up my dream.

Nope, the bombing in the lunch room has nothing to do with it, they were not showing up long before that. Most of them live in the green zone & also get $5000.00 a month for security which they spend on what ever they want.

Russia's role in the International Conference on Iraq
    27 / 04 / 2007

Held at Sharm el-Sheikh in period 3, May 4 (May), the next international conference on Iraq. What is the role of Russia?

It is known that effectiveness will be in two phases. The first special meeting to discuss the so-called "International Convention to help Iraq" (or the "International Covenant for Iraq"), which were the result of cooperation of the Iraqi government and the United Nations. There is talk about the plan provides for a number of actions in political, social, economic and security issues to improve the situation in the country. The tasks identified by the Iraqi government intends to implement over the medium as well as pledges by the international community for the adoption of money to solve them.

This meeting will be in essence a continuation of the work of the group of donors to help Iraq, which began in Madrid in October (October) 2003. With so interdependent social and economic issues at this time very closely indeed with the solution of political issues and the stabilization of the situation in the field of security. This is logical because the four years that have passed since the toppling of Saddam Hussein showed that efforts to rebuild the social and economic infrastructure in Iraq running security problems.

Special ists have taken foreign companies and representatives of humanitarian organizations fall victim to terrorists in addition to the Iraqis, making the work under such circumstances virtually impossible.

The Russians convinced from bitter experience that. In 2004 the company Mentspo "Wynter Einergo Service Agency" t 1 through 5 a month to three times the attacks two kidnapping hostages and shooting on Autobishem. And this has resulted in three dead and wounding eight injured. After that, Russian companies operating in Iraq evacuated all of its affiliates practically from there. In June (June) 2006 staff came to attack the Russian embassy. And then claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and murder of four Russian citizens organization linked to "Al Qaeda".

It should be noted that Russia is not affiliated to the group of donors Iraq, which prefer to provide assistance to this country on a bilateral basis. Russia agreed to drop the bulk of the debt owed by Iraq and provided assistance in rebuilding the electric energy installations large and is ready for cooperation in the field of oil. He told "Novosti" a source close to the Russian delegation, which will travel to Sharm el-Sheikh on condition of anonymity : "We do not like wasting money on the funds, but we are ready to work with the Iraqi government in specific projects and at least express our expressed desire to return to Iraq."

The saying President of the Russian Federation to workers in the oil and gas industry, Yuri Shafranik, which was formerly headed by the cultural cooperation and practical and technical cooperation with Iraq. He indicated at a press conference in Moscow in mid-April (April 5) being that Russian companies could begin work in Iraq this year in the absence of force majeure. He said that no agenda for the working meetings and conferences as well as the visits of representatives of the Iraqi leadership to Russia this year has won the approval of both parties. All this allows to start a frame. The Shafranik that Russian companies could work in Iraq as "investors and contractors."

Given all these facts will Russia during the first day of the Sharm El-Sheikh conference on the likely role of observer rather than an active participant in the "International Convention" above. However, Moscow considers that the document to be adopted at the May 3, as the source of "Novosti", rich in content. The issue lies in the need to implement all the undertakings to which our parties themselves. This is not easy, particularly since the international and legal point of view according to the source would not be a direct effect. So, it is possible to keep all the items listed in it as a mere rhetorical declarations times happened in the case of Iraq.

Regarding the second day of the May 4, it is scheduled to hold an expanded meeting of the neighboring countries with the members of the UN Security Council permanent members and representatives of "eight adults."
Russia intends to play an active role here. The source said "Novosti" : "We await a constructive and useful on the actions that must be taken to stabilize the situation in Iraq, because of the Sharm El-Sheikh conference, which should meet all of the external forces involved in the Iraqi settlement."

He said that Russia has its own perspectives on what must be done for a settlement in Iraq, then there would table concrete proposals at the meeting.
Source refrained from revealing details because coordinate positions are still being at the present stage including with a number of foreign partners Moscow. But at the same time that Russia's position on Iraq had not changed. In conclusion, he said : "We always talk about the need to achieve national reconciliation. And we insist from 2003 to the inclusion of this requirement in all the resolutions of international meetings on Iraq. We have to overcome the refusal of some of our colleagues foreigners even to the idea of national reconciliation. Now, he went on, everyone speaks Jupha.

This development represents definite progress, but the interest of a few words alone, without a doubt. Particularly, the Iraqi opposition is not an equal participant in the international dialogue on the settlement of the situation in Iraq. "

I used the cafeteria bombing only as an example....politicians have been targeted from the beginning.
Not all live within the Green Zone....not that it is that safe of a haven....probably the 30% that manage to show up.
Those that live outside of the Green Zone still have to travel to it in a security convoy and considering security personnel pull in upwards to 1000$ per day each....5000$ doesn't go far.
