1000 companies and 50 countries in the 2007 exhibition of reconstructing Iraq

Several Saudi companies are preparing to participate in the exhibition of reconstructing Iraq in 2007, organized by the group of the International Company for Exhibitions and in cooperation with Arriyadh Exhibitions Company Limited on an area of 25 square meters at Amman Square for Exhibitions; primarily under the auspices of the Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr. Maarouf Al-Bakheet, during the period from 7 to 10 May.

In this exhibition, more than 1000 companies representing 50 countries from around the world will compete to get a share of the allocations which amount to $ 100 billion for the reconstruction of Iraq in several areas, including construction, agriculture, oil, petrochemicals, plastics, security systems and protection, food, infrastructure, communications, cultural, education, health and electricity. Saudi companies got the greatest participation during the 2004 and 2005 exhibitions, while the second largest participation was for Jordan in 2006.

The exhibition this year is supported and encouraged by commercial bodies, governmental and non-governmental, following the meeting of the commercial consuls of the European Union and of other countries, last January in Amman; the most prominent of those countries are: the American Trade Department, the British Trade and Investment Body, the French Body for Encouraging International Investment, the Turkish Ministry of Trade and Foreign Affairs, the German Ministry of Labor and Economy, the Federation of German Engineers, the Body of Exhibitions Industry in Germany, the Austrian Trade Body, the Body of promoting Greek Exports, the Swedish Trade Council, the Federation of Wallonia Chambers of Belgium, the Australian Trade Committee, the Brazilian Body of Foreign Trade Development (Abex) , the Spanish Institute of Export and Trade, and finally the Bulgarian Agency of Promoting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

Sent American Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Zalmay Khalilzad had sent a message of congratulations to the Iraqi people on the ratification of the Law of the oil came where :

The Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the draft law of oil and gas nationally. On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the government of national unity in Iraq, led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the leaders of the bloc political President and the government of Kurdistan. He also commended the Energy Commission of the Council of Ministers headed by Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih and with the participation of the Minister of Oil, Mr. Hussein Shahrastani and Minister of Planning Mr. Papan and the Minister of Finance, Mr. Jabr statement, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Hashim Al-Shebli, Minister of Electricity, Mr. Karim Hassan Wahid and Central Bank Governor Sinan Shabibi and Mr. adviser to Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Thamer Ghadban, and Mr. Asti Haurami of government pw William Cordstan for the considerable efforts made by the group.

And this is a politically important, as shown by the leaders who represent all segments of Iraqi society that they are capable of working in tandem to solve the difficult issues of vital national importance.

The law of this oil, which contains firmly committed to participate in the proceeds among regions and provinces, reaffirms The oil and gas resources belong to all the Iraqi people. Under this law, all proceeds from the oil sales will go to the expense of a national one.

This is the first time since 2003, which is where all segments of Iraqi society President on such important legislation. The Iraqi Central Bank banks and financial institutions to develop and all units will be responsible for following up the implementation of its obligations to the law combating money laundering and prevention of terrorist financing and instructions issued thereunder, and also checked their accounts independently, and that empower to enable it to perform its duties with complete independence with regard to the issue of money laundering and prevention of terrorist financing.

March 2, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Iraq's cabinet this week endorsed a draft oil and gas law for the management of oil resources and an equitable distribution of revenues. Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki hailed the achievement, telling reporters on February 26 that with the endorsement of the draft law, the government "lays the foundation stone for building the state." The law will now be submitted to parliament for ratification before it takes effect later this year.

I'm really getting tired of this! Smokescreen or are what? Have we not heard many different scenarios about the timeline for submission to parliment? Or have I been imagining them? Did we read the 10th of March somewhere? And the term SOON!?

Later this year rings "late in the year" to my ears. I pray they just mean "later on in a few days". But maybe that is where I have been missing it by inserting my own interpretation, but who in the world could blame me with the less than satisfactory wording we get after it is translated.

The law still has to be approved by the Iraqi parliament, which is out of session until next week. A number of key documents need to be written to complete the full legislative package, which will govern the oil industry.
