brotherbear we all have different challenges to overcome , try to find something to help give you the desire to change the situation your in. Most of the time for me it has been my family that has motivated me. I have had severe injuries which most people would have taken 2-6 months off from work but being self employed & sole income for my family I went back to work within 2-14 days from any of those injuries, it surprised the doctors in how fast I healed after some of those injuries. Well good luck with everything brotherbear

thanks for the compliments, and support. It would be foolish for me to post my diet and work out schedule, because everybody is different and have different health issues. So I would not want anyone to take a chance. That being said, I saw my doctor, used a nutritionist and do cardio/ eliptical 30 min a day 3 times a week. Its so funny as this is the second time I have had large weight loss in my life and the funny part is the first time, I used a personal trainer, a very good important tip try not to get a PT thats affilitated with your gym as it is there mission to suck you for much as they can for as long as you will let them, don't get me wrong,it was wonderful having a mindless work out , but when the trainer was gone, I was left not really knowing what to do, so I stopped and gained the weight back.2) You will develop a close friendship with said trainer as you spend so much time to gether,Be careful not to blurr the line of your relationship, or you will find yourself paying to train then treating for dinner of Prime rib Lobster and Cocktails, and thats two ways of ensuring, you will never get a six pak or you will always be low on cash!!! the lecture is now over, be healthy, happy and always have laughter in your life or you will either be dead or a constipated troll over at Talk G

I admire you, too Benzboy...! I've got to lose 60#. I know I will do it if when I decide too. One thing I am figuring out is that I'm eating a little more protein than I usually do and that helps me not crave the carbs as much. So I guess I am gradually getting into it. I did it before and I can do it again... except this time I'm going low carb. It's not that bad once you get into it, is it?

    Happy thanksgiving!

Anyone use a treadmill for excercise?....I'm thinking of getting one soon. I am not as active as I use to be and I am not going to fool myself by joining a gym with the intentions of going everyday....I wasted money because I only went about once a week and then not at all. My metabolism has changed due to a thyroid condition and I find it is now not as easy to keep the weight off.

    Thumbs up Exercise

    Angel,
I do use a treadmill. I do an hour power walk first thing in the morning, four days a week i.e. 2 days on, 1 day off , 2days on & 2days off. Works out very well. I get 3 days off a week. I started in June and have been very strict with the regime. So far very happy with that.
I used to walk outside and find many excuses not to do so. There's the weather, traffic, bird droppings, & treading on the undesireables.
So treadmill it is!!! Good luck.

I don't use a treadmill and don't reccomend them for this reason and I am speaking only for me. First of all , I am in my 40's which is no big deal cause they say who ever they are that 40 is the new 30's I think I like that. Second I have a bulged /herniated disc in my back., so to pound on a treadmill for any amount of time is asking for trouble . I do however use an elliptacal machine for cardio because there is no impact on the back when do it. You can even use a cross trainer, thus getting both the upper and lower body worked out at the same time. Plwase note I don't care what you weigh, You really do not have to get more than 30 mins of cardio, so don't think I will do an hour and speed the process up, cause you won't don;t kill yourselves. Now for diet, protien versus carbs, I love meat yet I tend to eat only vegtables and chicken, And Have cheated, rarely, but I have, you can also have oatmeal for breakfast, a scoop of non fat cottage cheese, and a few chunks of cantalopue. Remember this worked for me and I am not a doctor nor do I play one on the Young and the restless, so be healthy and be careful

I have a Tony LIttle Gazelle Edge... You can buy them at WalMart for under $100. It's a good excercise machine, I just can't stand too much so I do floor exercises. My feet get a workout on my job so that is why... Good luck ~~

Exercise? Well, most of the pallets that we (I) unload at grocery stores weigh anywhere from just a few pounds to well over 2,000 pounds, and these I pull with a pallet jack to the back of the truck (48 and 53 foot trailers). So, excercise is one thing I don't worrie about too much right now. Legs, back, and arms constantly receive a good workout!. Just worrie about keeping my back together!!

Now, just need to work on the middle buldge! Too many snacks driving back and forth. Oh well, that's what keeps Truck Stops in business, right???
