Hi Friends!
The word out is......since it is not the major portion of the EL that is at issue- just part of that 1st section.....and since there has been a special emergency meeting to get this completely taken care of immediately.....again, the word out is (read "rumor") this will not affect the RV from coming out of the closet.
As mentioned before, there are 9 currencies that will be RVing about or at the same time as the IQD. It was given to Iraq to be first- but they are blowing that opportunity unless they RV in the next couple of days. Otherwise, my prediction is Monday. Yep...Monday.
Might be next week, might be next month....but Monday.
Now there does seem to be some additional pressure for Iraq to get their she-ites together as it is a problem that is now affecting these other currency RVs. Therefore I suspect it should be before the end of the month.
Man I wish I had another order of dinar coming to my door tomorrow! I just ain't got quite enough nerve to do it behind my beloved's back....and there's no doing it with her permission- 'cuz there is no "permission" from her!
Blessings On YOU! AL

Hi Friends!
I'm having a really tuff time deciding whither to be mostly happy or mostly bummed regarding the news of what transpired Mon.11-23-09 in parliament. I am happy that SOMETHING is now on the desk of the Presidential Council for an approving signature, but am bummed that there is further debate to take place regarding unresolved issues. I have decided to be mildly optimistic that it MAY be close enough for satisfying the US, the UN and the IMF so that we can get this RV/RI underway, as it is affecting other currencies as well.
While I remain disgusted by the extreme commercialization of Christmas, and the new definition of "Black Friday", which has had its prior connotations to the crucifixion of Christ and Easter transfered to the lining of the pockets of big business, I none-the-less have to admit that I am encouraged about the prospects of seeing my financial standing turning from the red...to the black...Friday the 27th.
That's the latest rumor I am advancing- subject to change though, as there are other opinions being promoted. New "Intel" is expected to trickle in during the week. I'll post if I feel there is anything worth while sharing. Until then...
Blessings On YOU! AL

Hi Benz!
Yep, it seems to be the same old- same old.
And after seeing the latest news articles Seaview has posted regarding both the status and perception of the current Election Law, I have decided to quickly withdraw my anticipation of an RV on Friday- in spite of rumors that the IMF will force the issue and declare the new rate.
I still maintain- No EL, No RV!
Plus, they have the Eid holidays in a couple of days, that is bound to slow things up for the rest of this week. Things could get violent over there as people are disgusted with all the shenanigans of the GOI. And what about this great announcement and media event that is supposed to come out Wednesday with Trade Bank of Iraq and Reuters? With no EL firmly established, it will be an awkward situation.
There certainly is a lot of positive activity going on, advancements being made and big plans in anticipation of a bright future being laid out and publicized, but I'm sorry- without the basics of even a remotely stabilized government- well, I just can't muster much enthusiasm at this point.
There are major crossroads and issues that are all converging together and coming to a big head at this time, and because Iraq does not have the maturity to deal with these massive issues all at the same time, I have a hard time being very optimistic.
While we watch how things play out this week, I will say I doubt that it will be "business as usual" after the end of this month. Something is gonna blow...I hope its a pinnata........... full of money!

Orrkallen, I feel the opposite.
The Investment Law has been ammended and passed this week. The Election Law, I feel will pass. I expect Hashemi to register another Veto tomorrow, Wednesday. However, there are 10 days to register objections and dispute it and then it can be overridden by Presidential Order, which is what I feel may happen. Some in Iraq will not be happy (or outside - as it goes ), however, no law pleases everybody whichever Country you live in.
Iraq needs this. They want a democracy, they want the Americans to start withdrawing. This is a stiff test for them, but I feel they will come through.
I think 2010 will be a good year. I feel optimistic.

Forgot to add that the Elections will probably be delayed. However the original January date was never set in stone, it was a suggested date. Maybe delayed until as late as March. We will have to see. That is a fly in the ointment, but we are used to delays when it comes to Iraq by now.

Hmmm, I thought I read a couple of days ago that a revote on the EL would be today. But apparently not. Well if it doesn't happen tomorrow, I suppose it will be after the EID holiday.
I still feel the same about it, but as usual with Iraq, timings out.
