i believe ive read that kuwait has lit a fire of sorts under the a$$es of other niehboring countries, and they may follow suit, and reval their currency higher as well, based on the basket of currencies. no link, i think it was on a post in the think tank.

The committee on the ammendments was to report and introduce their bills on last Tuesday (15 MAY) and then they asked and were granted a one week extension...this report says that they have asked for (NOW) an additional two weeks to tweek the bills...

are you sure it isnt just a week added onto the one theyve already received?? i didnt see the word 'additional' other than in your post. the article doesnt mention the original week delay that was granted so it could very well mean one more week to get it done. which will be before the end of month.

Give it at least until next Tuesday 29th (but I expect sooner) that we hear the HCL is accepted and approved by parliament. From what I was originally told there is a deadline that will be met by the end of their work week (this week). The greenzone attack attempt shows we are close, there are some who don't want the HCL passed.

I talk to alot of Heavy Dinar People that have said that this must be the Only Article out there that says this. Iraq hopeful of new oil law in May

Iraq is still hopeful of agreeing on a draft oil law this month that would allow parliament to pass it soon, Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih said on Saturday.

"Negotiations are supposed to start fairly soon in Baghdad in order to go over the details of the appendexes to the law as well as the modalities for revenue distribution," Salih said on the sidelines of a conference in Jordan.

He said a Kurdish delegation was in Baghdad and he would be returning to Iraq on Sunday to start the negotiations.

Salih said those asking for talks want to ensure that the law includes checks and balances to the equitable distribution of revenue and want to debate the scope of activity and control of the Iraqi National Oil Company.

"Let's hope that this is done before the end of the month," he said, adding that a deal would mean the law would be sent to parliament for deliberation approval.

Describing the oil law as the single most important piece of legislation facing Iraq, Salih said it would shape the country's economy for a long time.

The law is meant to equitably distribute Iraq's oil wealth among Shi'ites, Sunni Arabs, and ethnic Kurds. Washington sees it as a critical law to ensure national reconciliation among Iraq's warring groups.
