Jp is correct. As a US citizen you are required to report any and all income no matter where that income is earned. The stories we've all heard about people having off shore accounts are not what they seem. These accounts only hide income. These accounts do not remove your responsibility to report income. In recent years the US has gotten far better at finding these accounts as our government has been aggressively seeking new agreements with other governments to report accounts of US citizens.

I love that joke, Kristin! It's been a long time since I did any asset protection planning, but what I hear from friends who do it everyday is the Patriot Act pretty much destroyed bank secrecy. Every country is concerned about terrorism so they all cooperate with other governments. Now protecting yourself from lawsuits or state income taxes with asset protection stategies...that's a different story.

OK Im not trying to bash or stir up trouble all i want to know as im sure other members are curious as well.... SGS is there any way possble you can call back these sources and ask why these things didnt occur and there reason behind it. It would be nice to have a follow up behind these post. I appreciate the hard reasearch you do and sticking your head out in the line of fire so many times as your only passing on info of what you hear. It would just be nice for a follow up thats all. Thanks tank.

Hmm, so I guess that would make it pretty expensive nowadays to be able to bank somewhere with total privacy. I'm sure their is someplace in the world that they offer those types of services and I'm sure its not going to be cheap, as privacy is as much of a commodity as anything these days....

The follow up is being sault. But it takes time. People have other duties and it will come thru. I have seen them discussing it and are awaiting answers. When she has it........she will share it.....

One very deligent poster here noticed that the CBI did not post the usual Rates will remain the same till the end of the business day Monday...." Every Thursday lately we have seen this....why not today?
