I would be mightily tempted to form my own egold exchange company, use it as a regular trade vehicle as well as a way to allow members to get out funds. I would limit how many per month, set a ceiling per deposit or purchase, and let members do what they wanted with their gold then, like sending it to their fav outlet to withdraw.

Maybe an offshore exchange system. But hey, what do i know?

I totally agree that the British Pound is a very fine currency. But when it comes to stability and strongness there's nothing compared to the Swiss Franc. In the mid 20's the GBP was trading at 24.5 Francs and has since fallen to 2.2700 Francs. That's a loss of more than 90%.
Another example: the 10 cts coin (0.1 Fr.) was first issued 1879 and still looks exactly the same today as when it was introduced.
I do agree though that the Euro is cr*p.

Sorry, but Switzerland - as the last country on earth with gold backed currency - was forced by the US years ago to give up its gold standard and to sell (they use the word "lend" in the mass media) most of its gold to the FED.

I'd also prefer everything elses than US$ but would also avoid the Euro. Swiss francs, pounds, yen maybe.

If there is enough shortage in the money supply in a contry (ie PIPSsters holding CHF) there will most likely cause a severe slowdown or recession in the economy. This is what happened during the depression in the 30-s when suddenly short term loans were called due immediately causing an engineered domino effect on the money supply.
