    Kurdish ministries urged to submit their 2010 budgets

    The Ministry of Finance in Iraq’s Kurdistan region has called on all regional ministries to submit their proposed budgets for the year 2010 during the current week, an official statement said on Tuesday.

    “The premiership in the Kurdistan region has called on all regional ministries to submit their proposed budgets to the Ministry of Finance during this week,” Finance Minister Bayez al-Talabani said in a statement published on the official web site of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

    A joint committee comprised of representatives of the ministries of planning and finance will discuss the proposed budgets before referring them to the Parliament, according to the statement.

    The semi-autonomous Kurdistan region receives 17 percent of Iraq’s 2010 federal budget, totaling 71.3 trillion Iraqi dinars.

    CBI’s dollar sales down to 144m

    The Central Bank of Iraq’s (CBI) dollar sales dropped to $144.154 million in its daily auction on Tuesday, compared to $171.340 million during the previous session.

    “The demand hit $1.5 million in cash, covered at an exchange rate of 1,183 Iraqi dinars per dollar, and $142.654 million in foreign transfers outside the country, covered at an exchange rate of 1,173 Iraqi dinars per dollar,,” according to a CBI news bulletin received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

    None of the 12 banks that participated in today’s session offered to sell dollars.

    Virtue Party calls upon Shahristani to unveil oil smuggling

    Members of Iraq’s Virtue Party denied having called for the questioning of Oil Minister Hussein Al Shahristani. The party however called upon Al Shahristani to unveil oil smuggling files.

    Members of Iraq’s Coalition believed that questioning Oil Minister is driven by political motives.

    Iraq VP warns of rejecting election law

    The deadline set by Iraqi Vice President Tarek Al Hashemi for the Parliament to respond to his letter calling for MPs to amend the paragraph concerning Iraqi refugees in the elections law has come to an end.

    Al Hashemi warned that if Parliament does not respond to his letter by Tuesday, he will contest the law.

    His letter calls to increase compensatory seats in Parliament from 5 to 15% and ensure fair allocations to refugees.

    Iraq’s Parliament legal committee announced that it has no response to Al Hashemi’s letter calling on him to ratify or reject the law.

    PM: Jordan looks to build up pipeline with Iraq

    During a meeting with visiting head of Iraq Islamic Supreme Council Sayyed Ammar Al Hakim, Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Al Dahabi announced that Jordan looks to extend an oil pipeline with Iraq to promote bilateral economic ties.

    The level of trade exchange between Jordan and Iraq is at its highest, Al Dahabi said.

    Jordan hopes the pipeline would increase Iraqi oil exports to the country, he added.

    Shahristani: Next round of oil licensing round on schedule

    Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein Al Shahristani said the round of oil fields investment licenses scheduled for December 11 and 12 will be carried out on time and will witness a wide and competitive participation.

    Iraq will offer 10 services contracts for investment on 44 firms participating in the round.

    Iraq is paying more than 2 trillion Iraqi dinars in compensation to Kuwait during the 2009

    Statistics show that in a draft budget bill for 2010, that Iraq has to pay compensation to Kuwait and in 2009 nearly two billion dollars.

    A source told the independent press (Iba) on the part of the details of the budget bill for the Iraqi State for 2010 and before the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, showed that the total amount spent for the year 2009 was (2) Trillion and (153) billion Iraqi dinars, about (2) billion U.S. dollars.

    Iraq had invaded Kuwait in 1990 after a dispute almost continuously on the demarcation of the border and Iraqi accusations that Kuwait exploitation of economic conditions in Iraq after leaving a bloody turf war with its eastern neighbor Iran for eight years, leaving thousands of victims.

    Kuwait maintains its right to compensation for damages suffered as a result of the implementation of the orders of the Iraqi army invaded Kuwait the Iraqi leadership and try to install a government loyal to Iraq.
