Construction and Housing is a five-year plan to address the housing crisis in the country

Britain's Ministry of Construction and Housing for the preparation of five-year plan to curb the worsening housing crisis in the country through the creation of five residential complexes in each year.

Hussain al-Shahristani: Iraq will be the largest source of oil in the world

Oil Minister Hussein Shahristani said that Iraq will become the largest source of oil in the world, will range from production of crude oil after the companies agree to invest the fields during the second licensing round is 10-12 million barrels a day.

Shahristani said in a press statement that international companies agreed to invest the oil fields announced by the Iraqi Oil Ministry in the first round of licenses and prices set by the ministry.

He added that companies that had submitted in the first round of licensing, organized by the Ministry of Oil has agreed to invest those fields and prices set by the ministry after it conducted these companies in-depth negotiations with the Iraqi Oil Ministry.

He pointed out that the fields and the companies have agreed to invest is a field-Zubair and West Qurna field in addition to the Rumaila which was agreed upon in the first licensing round with the oil company British coalition with the Chinese National Petroleum Company.

Negervan Barzani hails Germany’s role in economic movement in Kurdistan

Kurdistan’s Prime Minister Negervan Barzani praised the German role in the development of the economic and commercial movement in the Kurdistan region, according to an official statement.

“Negervan Barzani received on Thursday (Oct. 15) a high-profile German delegation, including the new German ambassador and the general consul in Kurdistan,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The premier hailed the German participation in the Arbil International Fair and its role in the development of the economic and commercial movement in Kurdistan region,” it added.

“The German delegation asserted its keenness to foster ties with Kurdistan, mainly in commercial, economic and investment fields,” it said.

Count: rising inflation index, in Iraq for the month of September by (1.1%)

Completed by the Central Statistics and Information Technology inflation report for the month of September 2009, which was prepared on the basis of field data collection "on the prices of goods and services component of the basket of consumer retail prices of selected markets in Baghdad and the provinces have shown the following results:

1. Index of inflation for the month of September 2009 from the level recorded in August 2009, as reflected in the index of consumer prices rose (1.1%), which was the result of the high indices of the following commodity groups (fuel, lighting, transportation, miscellaneous goods and services, rent) rates of (4.9%, 0.03%, 5.9%, 2.0%), respectively, while groups (food, beverages and tobacco, textiles, clothing and footwear, furniture, medical services and medicines) were recorded price decline during the month of September 2009, compared to the previous month rates of ( 1.8%, 2.0%, 0.7%, 0.6%, 0.1%), respectively.

2. Index annual inflation during the period from September 2008 until September 2009 by (2.7%) as a result of the decrease of indices of the following commodity groups (textiles, clothing and footwear, furniture, fuel and lighting, transportation, medical services and d.rugs) and the rates of decline (6.0%, 3.7%, 40.6%, 9.4%, 3.3%), respectively, and commodity groups (food, beverages and tobacco, miscellaneous goods and services, rent) recorded rates of increase in their prices (9.7%, 2.3%, 8.0%, 9.1% respectively) During the same period.

3. Inflation basis * (20627.6) registering an increase (0.5%) for the previous month and increased by (7.7%) for the month of September of last year.

* Inflation is the foundation is the ratio of change in the index of consumer prices calculated after excluding petroleum products (oil, gas, gasoline).

Iraq neighbors to uphold Iraq security

Interior ministers from countries surrounding Iraq reaffirmed on Wednesday their full support for Iraq sovereignty, security and stability, they also stressed on enabling it of taking up its role on the national and International levels. At the conclusion of the sixth meeting, Ministers and representatives of Islamic Conference Organization, UN and Arab league seconded the recommendations of previous five meetings stressing that Iraq, Syria and other neighboring country territories shall not be used to train, lodge or finance terrorists. The meeting attendants decried the terrorist attacks in Iraq and the negative security repercussions thereof on the situation in neighboring countries. To that, they called to boost cooperation and coordination in order to face these activities. The participants in the meeting met to discuss security situation in Iraq and exchanged information that might help to fight against terrorism. They also talked over means and measures to detect falsified documents especially used to infiltrate thru the borders. It is to be noted that Egypt and Bahrain are attending Iraq neighboring countries meeting as supervisors.

However, the crisis between Damascus and Baghdad ruled the meeting. Ministers called in the final statement to activate mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between Iraq and neighboring countries security wise thru engaging in agreements and bilateral and multilateral memorandums of understanding in order to ensure security and stability. Diplomatic and judiciary mechanisms that help to hand over terrorists proved to be involved in terrorist attacks shall be enhanced, the participants added. It is also of an utmost necessity to limit spreading and broadcasting terrorist ideas and to work on avoiding some media’s exaggeration in spreading extremist, confessional and provoking ideas which lead to violence and terrorism, participants uttered. They also stressed on the necessity of working to complete works on borders’ security system and to limit infiltration operations.

The announcement of the participation of hundreds of Iraqi companies and the U.S. in an economic conference in Washington

Preparations continue for a large economic conference in Washington, DC, with the participation of about a thousand Iraqi and American companies.

It is scheduled to participate in the conference a number of businessmen who will discuss investment opportunities in Iraq, and encourage U.S. companies to invest in it.

The head of the National Commission for Investment Sami Araji in a press statement that the conference will be an important opportunity for the Iraqis in order to get the U.S. market and present the investment opportunities that are available to Iraq.

Government seeks to recover the stolen money and wanted abroad

Korean Gas Company for a share in the field of Basra, Zubayr

Korean Gas Company has been awarded a share in a field west of Basra, Zubayr in communion with the Italian group ENI oil company OCCIDENTAL.

It should be noted that it is expected to continue development rights for a period of twenty years with the possibility of expansion to five additional years in the field that contains 6.6 billion barrels of crude oil.

Where production of the field is currently on a daily basis at 195 million barrels is expected to raise production to 1.12 million barrels per day after seven years.

Barzani commends the role of Germany in the revitalization and development of trade movement in the province

Praised the KRG President Barzani role of Germany in the revitalization and development of commercial and economic movement in the province of Kurdistan and the participation of German companies operating in Erbil International Fair.

A statement issued by the Government of the Territory received a copy of the Tigris Radio that it came during a meeting with delegations of Germany included Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economics and Technology Karl Ernest Brown, the new German ambassador to Iraq and the German Consul-General of the Kurdistan Region.

The statement quoted the German delegation keen to develop and strengthen ties between the Kurdistan region as part of Iraq and Germany, especially in the areas of trade and economic investment.
