Iraq endorses investment law for most sectors except oil

The Iraqi Presidential Council endorsed Friday a law that would encourage local and international investments in the country.

The law would allow the Iraqi private sector and foreign investors to create a financial atmosphere that would protect and help investments projects to grow in the country.

The National Investment Authority (NIA), consisting of nine investment specialists, would handle the policies and applications of this law which was described as a federal law.

According to the decision by the government, the law will not include investments in the petroleum and natural gas industry as well as the banking and insurance sectors.

The new law would provide a 10 year free of tax period for projects certified by the NIA and to top that a 15 year period would be given for projects that involve a 50 percent Iraqi participation.

Foreign investors would also benefit from the law which would facilitate their work in Iraq.

$172 millions to rebuild Anbar province

The cabinet has allocated $172 millions for Anbar Rescue and Rebuilding Council. An official source at the cabinet announced this adding that an ad hoc committee had been formed to diagnose destruction, specify the financial estimations and the future reconstruction plan, according to priorities to fulfill needs and expanding in housing plan to be parallel with the world advanced states

4 concrete dams to be constructed

Economical committee of ministers' council has agreed on starting 3 concrete dams for pure water as a art of Rusafa water project which was planed to start in 1982.

Total coast of this project will reach 236 billion Iraqi diners and finishing tme will be 2 years and to be fulfilled by Baghdad water directorate.First dam will be within geographical borders of Rusafa directorate with storage capacity of 175 thousand cubic meters.

Second one will be in Baladiat area with storage capacity reaches to 120 thousand cubic meters and the third in Habibia area with storage capacity of 110 thousand cubic meters.

Japan ready to invest oilfields in Nassirya

Japan has expressed its readiness for investing in Nassriya oilfields and establishing genetic refinery in the city while the ministry of oil had prepared a plan to develop al-Basra refinery and establishing a floating oil port after investing the Japanese available loan which reach to $3,5 billions to develop the Iraqi oil sector, the Japanese government announced that it had offered to Iraq.

An official source at the oil ministry stated that Japan is serious in offering support to oil sector through investment, developing oil fields in Nassirya and build a genetic refinery in the city to provide the oil derivatives and increase the volume of crude oil in the province.

Again, low numbers of banks, 2 dinar points down and low amounts.

They cannot hold this very long any more, I think we will see a nice improvement in the exchange rate withing 2 weeks now.
