I know I'm posting this late and banks are closed for the weekend, but I live 2 hours from Beaumont,Texas and went shopping with my daughter, and 2 hours drive back. So that's why my post is so late.

Anyway I went in today first time ever and told them I wanted to purchase some foreign currency. They said ok which one. I told them IQD, he looked at me and I said Iraq.
He started typing and said ok how much, I told him 1 million
He looked at me funny
checked his computor and said OK, that will be $782.50
He couldn't believe the price, he said that's cheap, I told him yea and you better buy some QUICK.
Told him a little bit about the dinars and he Thanked me.
So Chase in Beaumont, Texas is selling dinars. For anybody that lives in this area
I've been wanting to go in a bank and buy some since, reading everybodies post about going into banks to buy, but this was my first chance to do so. I WAS ALL THE WAY OUT THE BANK

no it wasnt official until published in the laws on the official gazette. check the uruklink.net site out under iqlaw its all the laws they have passed and have made official, it is getting to be a very big list of stuff they have implemented so far. thats why i wanted a translator like everyone was volunteering some time back to check out the pdf's which are photocopies so they cant be translated by google, and read them for us. so far ive not heard anyone volunteer or report someone read it.

After reading the definition for enact, it seems that this would be the "putting into power part". The above news article headline says the President "Ratified" the FIL. If it takes 15 days from the President "ratifying" the law where it is actually put into force (enacted), then that would be in line with the professor's mid-December rumour.

Question?? The page of the Official Gazette where the new laws are published in Arabic..... how do we know it isn't already published?? Perhaps they will simultaneously publish it the same day along with the new IQD exchange buy/sell rates. Just my thoughts. I would think simultaneously would be the way to go. I think this one's been about beat to death.

Nonetheless, it's getting pretty exciting here lately. Sure alot better than waiting for them to agree on the constitution. Boy was that something!!

The law is titled exactly

It wasn't until a couple of years ago that Qatar allowed foreign investors to invest in stocks, property and etc,..; however, foreign investors can not enter into IPO's.

This lends to a very wealthy environment for ME'nders. I guess we will see in Iraq.

got a question? remember article 8....it was talked about and speculated...this is the law that lifts all the restrictions off the currency....am i right??? If I am right wouldnt that need to be inacted or put in place before we get an RV and be able to cash in at banks????

Nasser Hussein Al-Shimmari, who supervises the reconstruction process of oil wells in the South Oil Company, said last Sunday, that the engineering cadres in the company was able to repair 75 oil wells in Rumaila oil fields north of Basra.

Al-Shimmari said that the engineering cadres were able to repair 75 wells in North Rumaila (60 km north of Basra) using their own capabilities.

He said that work is still going on to construct 100 wells and incorporate them in the service, pointing out that the energy of each well is estimated at (3000) liters.
Al-Shimmari added that the company is determined to reform all stations and wells associated to it.

Hundreds of wells were exposed to neglect and vandalism after the chaos that followed the fall of the previous regime in 2003, and the South Oil Company seeks to restore life to these wells.

First article that I read that doesn't hinge on the U.S. doesn't have to leave for Syria and hopefully others to help on bringing down the violence.

imf will list on iraq's page the article they are under. when it changes to VIII it will be official. however the revalue and opening on the international market should enable them to attain it.
