One thought. Show the international community that Iraq can no longer suppress the value of the dinar and hold it at the low program rate of 1470. They will say that despite their efforts, now is the time for the rate of the dinar to be raised to it's real value (i.e. .20, .34, 1.48, 3.00 $$$$)

Or...they could be working towards the goal of 1345 as stated in the IMF report

I am looking for the next auction to be another large movement of USDs into the local banks just like the last three auctions. Then they will have their weekend. After that-we'll see, but I think it means good things for us all.

They have to reval according to the ICI Iraq is responsible for making their payments on whatever debt has been unforgiven....there is no way they will make those payments with this rate of currency.

Still not enough to make payments....they will be in default before they even start making payments. also remember SGS and Adster saying "significant rise in rate by end of 2006". There is nothing significant at this rate even if you continue on like this until 12/31/06.....

I am not very knowledgable in this area but could it be that they are waiting to see the outcome of our elections Senate/house only because there has been a lot of talk about if the dems control the house and senate that it could reflect negatively on our stock market and could cause a depreciation of the USD. Could it be possible they are waiting to see how the market opens today and the final election pans out to see if they would be better ahead to PEG to the EURO if the dems are in control here. I know it is unlikely that they are waiting on our mid-term elections but I thought maybe waiting to see what USD value does??? any thoughts.

We gotta remember it's pegged, it's not just gonna float out of the pegged range and slowly raise up to the dollar amount over the course of years.

We can't forget the FIL, they passed it, they are gonna have to do biz with the world sooner or later, and when they do you can bet it won't be at 1470, or 1460, or 1330 or anything like that. They are gonna have to RV and they know it. Shabbibi wasn't at that meeting in Kuwait on the 30th because he just happened to be in the neigborhood, and just dropped by out of the blue. All of this is on purpose.

He was at the Kuwait meeting.. He made both the London meeting and then the Kuwait meeting. You can see him pictured on the pictures from the Kuwait meeting. He doesn't miss a trick!!!

CP I think you are DEAD ON here!!! We were thinking that same thing last night - that is why we haven't seen an RV "before" the elections. Plus another thought was the Iraq PM can say "we don't march to the US push of our laws" to help their election either. They are watching EVERYTHING that happens here for sure!!
