If the Iraqi government has any since it must do something with the currency now..the u.s. elections are terribly important to our support in their country and I'm sure they must realize this.. another 2 years of support verses pulling out..also the stalling on the 10k monies to their people.. if this dosent happen this week i think they have missed one hell of an opportunity..cant imagine them putting it off if they plan on doing it soon.. jmo

A few days ago RollsRoyce posted that Indira would be talking to her brothers again in about 8 hours and would update us. I've looked through the postings and haven't seen anything. Has anyone seen a posting since that one? Thanks

I think he also said that Indira's brothers had "clammed up" and she was somewhat frustrated by the lack of information, and that the 10K had not been distributed yet...

Wow...Okay, I will try again today. What's bothering me in this story: if they sell for 767 and buy for 620, wouldn't you say that they would want to actually SELL , instead of having their customers running around like crazy to get a few dinars?
What happened is that actually when I went to the first chase branch, the lady that I have talked to did look up the IQD right in front of me on her computer. On top of that, chatting with her, she told me she does have a stock of dinars - but from her son, who is in Iraq... Curiously, she did not want to continue the conversation about the dinars that she's got...kinda like a secret subject..thing...
My conclusion is that chase is holding off on selling IQD. And we know why!

This sites from the U.N. webpage yesterday's ICI meeting but does the fact that it states FORMAL ADOPTION lead one to believe that it has been adopted and just the "ribbon-cutting" type of ceremony needs to take place???

UN-sponsored International Compact for Iraqi development winds up preparatory stage


31 October 2006 – The United Nations-backed International Compact with Iraq (ICI) held its final preparatory meeting in Kuwait today as it seeks to consolidate peace in the violence-torn country and pursue political, economic and social development over the next five years.

The meeting was attended by representatives of 20 States, regional and multilateral institutions, the formal members of the preparatory group for the ICI, which has been developed by the Iraqi Government with UN and World Bank support, to tackle the challenges of security, good governance and the provision of basic services.

“Iraq’s international partners have pledged to provide financial, technical and political support to help meet these challenges on the basis of mutual commitments to the necessary steps required to realize their shared vision for the normalization of Iraq,” the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said in a statement.

“The United Nations also reaffirmed its commitment to the success of the Compact and its continued intention to support the promotion and implementation of the ICI, through its mission and agencies in Iraq and the good offices of the Secretary-General and his representatives.”

The formal adoption of ICI’s specific agenda is scheduled at a high-level meeting during the next six weeks.

At the time the Compact was launched in July, Secretary-General Kofi Annan called it “an opportunity for the international community to build a strong partnership with Iraq and the wider region” with a “framework for a defined, prioritized and benchmarked economic programme for the next five years.”

I think they did sign the article 8 being it was held in Kuwait with all the big boys. I mean what is Iraq going to do stand at the podium and say I changed my mind I do not want to sign this. If it was done in Parliament I would of said it probably was not signed because they seem to not want to show up for those meetings. But when it comes to meetings around the World it usually gets done.

I think they may be waiting on the HCL and then enacted everything together. I do not see this really going passed November. I think they are keeping it hush hush top secret.

The really good news is that we all know it is going to go up soon. I know a lot of you have been in this for 3 years and are really tired. But remember when you first invested you had know idea how this would play out. But we do now they really have no option if they want to move forward.

I was watching Glenn beck yesterday and he was telling the truth about Iraq and had one of the big Kurd leaders on. In Kurdistan they have built a University called The American University of Iraq. They did this in honor of are helping to make them free and a Democracy. There is no doubt in their mind that they will make it so we should not doubt them ever. They are being backed by more than 27 Country's. The High up Kurd gentleman was very proud and optimistic about his Country Iraq. he stated that he had travel to all parts of Iraq in the last couple of weeks including Baghdad and some of the other dangerous city's and said he has seen major improvement. Also he thanked the US and all the other Nations because before we went in and took Saddam out he had KILLED OVER 1 MILLION KURDS!!!!!!

I for one am more excited than I have ever been as I can see all of this coming together. All the doubts I ever had have gone and all I can see is that Iraq is going to recover in amazing strength.

I'm not sure how the R/V would effect the elections at this point....however I'm also not American.....that being said...the only thing that would make bush and his party look good is security in Iraq and their troops coming home.

Now if the ISX is open to foreign investors at some point this month, then I think that they had better R/V the Dinar or some people might invest a 100,000 american dollars and own companys in Iraq that are vital for economy. I wonder how much Canadian I would have to invest to be majority owner of a Hotel?
