A typical sluggish Friday trading session today with traders struggling to smack down on some gains, even though trading action was tight. Consumer sentiment showed gains, for the 4th consecutive month. BlackRock reported to be buying Barclays division for $13.5 billion setting BLK in motion, to the down side. The deal will make BlackRock the worlds largest asset manager. The combination company will create a corporation that will oversee $2.7 trillion in assets.

Trading activity was mixed on the session, just after the opening bell. As the day moved forward, the major U.S. indices moved into positive territory. All eyes were on news about regulatory reform presented by the Obama Administration. After President Obama was finished speaking about the reform plans, the markets moved slowly higher. Traders remained leery as to the action market direction after the speech was done.
