Danish Exports Decrease In June
Danish exports decreased in June from the previous month, a report by the Statistics Denmark showed on Monday.
Exports excluding ships and aircrafts decreased a seasonally adjusted 5.3% on a monthly basis to DKK 43.2 billion in June, compared to a 9.2% rise in the previous month. Shipments of food products, beverages, tobacco fell 5.6 % and those of the finished products and other goods slipped rose 0.3%. Chemicals and chemical products exports decreased 0.7%.
Similarly, imports excluding ships and aircrafts slipped 1.5% in June from the previous month, compared to a 8.2% rise in the previous month. Imports of fuel and lubricants rose 0.6% and those of chemicals and chemical products fell 0.2%.
Thus, the trade balance showed a surplus of DKK 4.8 billion in June, smaller than DKK 6.6 billion surplus in the previous month. On an annual basis, total exports increased 6.6% in June, while imports rose 12.4%.
The trade surplus, including ships and aircrafts narrowed to DKK 3.1 billion in June from DKK 4.1 billion in the preceding month. Exports and imports decreased by 7.6% and 5.9%, respectively compared to the preceding month.
Separately, the statistical office said the current account balance recorded a surplus of DKK 8.5billion in June, widening from DKK 6.9 billion surplus in the previous month. This was mainly due to surplus of goods and services. A year earlier, the current account surplus was at DKK 6.2 billion.
