hmm
for me its not dems repubs or anyone particular. really it seems like anyone above mayor that seems twisted. our govt. was supposed to be ran off of like 5 bucks a year. tax free country. where you could make up your own decisions. not have to pay for others laziness. if you plan well for your future, and you were smart about your money then you were good to go. if you didnt, well that was on you. no one was supposed to come to your rescue. somewhere along the way, there was enough people crying i would imagine that things started changing. thats where i see a lot of dems fight so hard. subjects like welfare, social security, and medicare. wtf people! provide for your own damn self. of course are there very rare situations that someone might not be able to. yes of course. to be quite honest i would still save oh well to them. im sure there are people here themselves or know someone that have used govt. funding at some point in time. do i agree with people living on it? no. do i understand that sometimes its necessary because of accidents, or what have you. yes, but i wouldnt mind if we just got rid of medicare, social security and welfare altogether. let the people take care of themselves. if they cant, they will either find a way, or move somewhere else where they can be lazy. im just really tired of the govt. taking my money and giving it away. tired of the govt. trying to tell me what to do. i have made serious considerations to moving out of the country after i get out of the military. the amount and time frame of the RV might have a lot to do with that decision.

If you don't want to go cold turkey here's what I did. I used a new drug called Chantix which blocks the nicotine from stimulating the receptors in your brain. I did that for three weeks and my smoking was cut by 75%. After 3 weeks of Chantix I switched over to Quest "3" nicotine "free" cigarettes. I stopped using the Chantix once I started using the Quest 3. As the nicotine left my system my urges became less frequent until I stopped altogether. You get the pleasure of holding the cigarette, lighting it, blowing the smoke, all the psychological pleasures, but, without the addictive nicotine. I know another person who quit using Quest 3 alone. I also know someone who's father has a few weeks to live due to lung cancer, he's 57. It matatasized and now the cancer is throughout his body. Poor guy.

to peg
or not to peg
that is the question
Habakkuk 2:2-3 Then the LORD answered me and said: “ Write the vision And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

DDDD,
Excuse me, but I had to interject. The fact that cigarettes kill is real, but if you look at statistics you'll find out that booze costs us far more in lives of drinkers and none drinkers, lost work time, illness, ruined lives and relationships. So once the govern. finishes telling us we can't smoke, and we can't eat fast foods, they WILL go after drinkers next. I think people should have the right to choose for themselves whether they want to smoke, drink and eat fast food. If they drink and drive then the government can get involved otherwise they should stay out of our lives. I quit drinking 20 years ago and don't regret it, but I still smoke and am tired of the gov. passing laws telling me I can't. JMHO[/QUOTE]
Yeah, well, here's the thing. . .
You've heard of the expression "All things in moderation..."?
That would go for alcohol as well as ice cream (and work!)
But for the life of me, I can't see being "moderate" with cigarettes. Yeah, you might not feel as bad, but health-wise I don't think there is a moderate route. You either religeously avoid them altogether, or ya justify it by balancing it as a "reward" for a situation you've been in. Or maybe a person just doesn't care, cause they're depressed, and nothing really matters to them.
I started fooling with them when I was 13-14 because my dad smoked, and access was possible. (He didn't know).
When I started working, having a cigarette was a "legal" break, and if you were not smoking, the BOSS expected to see you bustin yur but. Been like that ever since, but breaks are dictated by law now. But I'll tell you, you take a break without smoking, (when I say you, I mean me, or a person; just the way I type) a person can't get to that relaxed plane of existance that is there when smoking. I twiddled my thumbs for about 20-30 seconds, and went back to work. Not much of a break.just numb . . . waiting for a new rumor!

Interesting,
With so many still smoking, makes you wonder given the conclusive connection to cancer now a matter of fact. Once you see someone you know die of lung cancer, it is sobering experience, and most who still smoke will then stop. Hearing the stories here should open you eyes to just how serious the situation is, yet still some will smoke, and there is nothing anyone can say once you see this attitude.
I have seen far too many friends die recently of cancer, and they all smoked most of their lives, so it is a wake up call for those still stuck with this nasty habit. I know smokers hate to hear it, but until people get it in their minds to stop, they never will. Nothing friends or family will say will ever hit home like losing a good friend or family member to cancer from smoking, so talking about stopping never works, even seeing deaths from cancer will not work for some, and this is the most sad fact of all.
I relate it to having a gun pointed at me, the trigger is pulled, BANG, some will duck, some won't, oh well, everyone puts a different value on life, to each their own, end of story. Remember, Wealth Without Health Is Worthless. I cannot think of a worse way to die then with lung cancer, but to die wealthy would be close second, especially if this is your first taste of wealth, so think about it?
Good luck and health to all, Mike

and since the law states we have no choice but to wear a seat belt, etc etc,
Just where exactly is the rational for our wonderful leaders to allow this to continue? I don't expect an answer, I just get frustrated by the injustice of it all. Heck, they are supposed to be in position to protect us; that is their job. isn't that why they've sent our young-uns to Iraq?just numb . . . waiting for a new rumor!

I was a child of the sixties, and nuclear bombs were now a part of life. And care and safe keeping was entrusted to (you guessed it!) mankind.
I really didn't think I'd make it to 30! (Imagine my surprise!)
So smoking altho it was bad, paled in significance to what we had looming over us back then.just numb . . . waiting for a new rumor!
