First Iraq started with a high currency something on the order to 1 IQD to $3.22, much like Kuwait is today. Then through the actions of a murderous dictator the currency was driven down to 1 IQD to $.30 and then in 2003 to something like 4000 IQD to $1.00. The IQD has been held down to artificial values from 1990 to present for one reason or another. But one thing remains the same, natural resources. Oil and natural, gas lots of it. In fact the world needs it now more than ever. And there are other reasons to believe the dinar will reval. Iraq has agriculture, water and an ability to establish a manufacturing based like none other in the middle east except for Israel. Given the natural resources at it's disposal I believe they will surpass Israel in the long term. There is so much more to this than just current events.
Ask what??? What countries currency have appreciated greatly enough where people made alot of money. Is this what your wondering about what im asking?? If yes, Im asking because I think it would be interesting to know, especialy any currency that has had a huge surge against our dollar... not even a over night sudden rv, but let say a huge percentage increase say over the course of a year. I know people make a living trading currencies in the forex buying and selling daily. As far as I know there is NO currency that RVed in a day say even a 500% in a day without such as a total reprint and loop. I believe iraq is a different situation as you and I believe. I dont think iraq will do this as the people of iraq have confidence in the dinar and in doing such a move shows weakness in a economy which is what iraq and the world dose not want...and with the facts you stated is why were in a unique situation. They want foriegn investment and have lots of companies lining up at there front door. Im not a total party pooper im just trying to speak with reason and logic(at least what it is to me) and learn more and more each day as this forum has alot of great posters with great info. You and others may disagree with my opinions and thats cool. Thats what forums are for to hear different view points and debate them and learn in the process. Tank

    Only $2.91. What a bargain.

Out here on the West Coast, we are averaging $3.25 to $3.60.
Had to fill up my Chevy twice...$150.

The only real example that comes to mind is Japan 1985. They doubled the value of the yen against the dollar overnight without a single yen removed from circulation. I know there is at least one member here who lived the experience first hand.

Kuwait was an inside job so to speak only because of the quickness to resolve the invasion and the lack of internet info or we may have had a run it as well. However @ 10 cents [black market or not] that a 3400% increase getting back to normal.

Then of course there is Germany.

Hey time will tell but over a dollar is more the regional model and exactly the idea behind article IV discussions.
It seems that the state insists, or preserve the value of the Iraqi dinar 148 against the dollar ...Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states [ MOF Sept 2006]

High RV is like Coke; it’s the real thing baby!

3.09 in Denver. Of course a 950 sq. ft. crackerbox house in the right hood is now $475,000, real estate deflation notwithstanding. If I could just get my paint cans and brushes and ladders all on a bicycle......that would be a sight!
