I'm hoping for 1.68 - 2.41. However I believe the sky is the limit.

I can only see a slow rise causing massive economic problems for Iraq. If the value of a currency continually increases by (being conservative) 25% a year it seems that it would disrupt all business to the point that Iraq could not function on the world market.
Who's to say it NEEDS to revalue at all?

Prove to me that the Iraqi Dinar cannot continue at the rate it is at?

Sure, they want it to "return to previous" whatever that translates to. But apparently they don't need it to do such.

Explain why the waiting? Explain what they are thinking?

I'm not a Gypsy so I have no crystal ball.

I don't see any significant change, certainly not a $1 and up change at that....until they are actually extracting all that oil. It's in the ground right now. That's where our value is. Once it surfaces, so does our value.

Any rate above $1.00 will cripple Iraq. This is my opinion and a legitimate response to your question. Please don't engage in a "BS- they HAVE to do this or that" debate. The governments of Iraq and the US have a plan and all we can do is give our best "Guesses" as to what that plan is.

We have our opinions. I respect yours and I hope you can respect mine.

    Cheers.

That is exactly what I was trying to say.

All this "pressure" from us makes no difference to them. We can wish and wish and post highly intelligent posts about economics and "reasons why" they need to revalue their currency, but it isn't going to change things.

I think the facts speak for themselves.

Remember we are witnessing history in the making.

That is why this is called speculation. That's why I am here. To take the good with the bad and try to figure out what is going on.

In the end we will all win. I am not a naysayer, never have been.

Just that a lot of us have seen all this before and each new time has a different twist, that's all.

All I really want is Peace for Iraq. My heart goes out to them. I could not imagine being in any of their shoes (or sandles?).

Here Here Hardwood! It seems that none of us are too smart on this investment, b/c we don't possess it. THE ABILITY TO READ THE IRAQI'S MINDS. I on this gravytrain until the biscuit wheels fall off.

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face... then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."

I agree, none of us can read minds. Their parliment seems to work faster than ours as they have had a lot to accomplish to grow a new national government, one which is truly foreign to them at that, and yet they really have accomplished a lot. JMHO. One thing they have down pat is the ability to use smoke screens to protect what they are actually doing. When everything is finished and one with, we will all be quite surprised. JMHO

As to why that NEED to reval, that's speculation but the fact that they WANT to return the dinar to the previous value (in fact to the value before Saddam has been stated) remains.

It is also FACT that IMF member nations MUST maintain the rate of their currency in a 4% range. What you are missing here is that they CANNOT increase the value to even $.01 after ascesion to the WTO, so, unless it is postponed the slow grow WILL NOT happen.

One last FACT is that a constantly changing currency, be it increasing or decreasing cause major problems in any economy and a catastrophe in an emerging economy like Iraq.

All I am looking for is a decent answer as to how they can get around both the IMF regulations and the problems caused by a constantly shifting currency value.

    Thanks!
