You added that statement to make sure that you wouldn't be criticized for being realistic or "negative" as the case may be. I've seen people try and try again to add a sensible, realistic viewpoint on why we won't see a magical, overnight reval and because it ruins everyone's fantasy of waking up rich they get criticized and bashed for it. Nobody wants to say anything that doesn't support or agree with the big unrealistic fantasy for fear of being bashed.

    Interesting,

It never fails to amuse me how someone could even indicate that four years is overnight. Perhaps you are new to this investment or are simply one who likes to stirr it up a bit with your statements of no revalue. Either way, you are welcome to state whatever you wish, but please, don't assume everyone here is going to want to hear that four years is expecting a magical overnight revalue. Four years is not overnight, in fact, not even close, so take your magical opinion to some newbies forum if you want to your voice and opinion to be heard.

Good luck and health to all, Mike

Let's just put this to bed and agree to disagree. I know what my intentions were when I typed the words. An overnight RV (and Offshore made a good point that it has been FOUR years) is not fantasy. It is a plausible outcome. Too many quotes from Iraqi officials about strengthening the value of the dinar and making comparable to that of neighboring states, etc. Nobody knows how this will turn out but I and I know many others are here because we think it will turn out good. No disrespect intended to you and I know you were not being critical of me personally. You just sound like you might be a little exhausted with the waiting. I know I am but IMO, it will be worth it. And hey, I am a grown man so if my "fantasy" gets ruined, it may hurt a little, but I will get over it. Have a great weekend.

Somewhere in Bogota, Colombia is a beautiful baby waiting on my wife and I to come and bring him or her home! This investment is to help us pay for diapers!!

    you are not even kidding!

people are coming into this right now, or even 6 months ago and some of them are thinking of dinar investment as a get rich quick scheme

a common mistake because of the timing, but many of us know better.

this investment started years ago and so far. just pull up that exchange history xls provided by cbi that covers the past few years that show the rate and there you go. get rich quick? hardly. Long Term Capital Gain? Definitely.

as far as the reval that everyone is waiting for (the big jump) is concerned...

there's nothing magical about this, or any other reval.

the 100% correct term for it is "politically motivated time sensitive event"

that's not the the definition of revaluation, true BUT...

....for this particular country, I would have to say it definitely IS.

    1.
When the Dinar was at .32cents USD in 2003, and then it dropped off the map. What happened to the Iraqi spending ability, within their country. I remember asking my dealer in 2005, if I went to Iraq today with 25,000 Dinar what could I buy, he said milk and bread. Does anyone know if this was the level of purchasing power prior to our entering Iraq?
    2.
So from 32cents to nothing, what happened internally to their spending ability? If it was not greatly effected, than putting the dinar back to that .32cent mark, shouldn't effect them either.
    3.
Does an external RV effect an internal RV, or are they unrelated?
    4.
If an Iraqi is holding 1 million dinar and it RV's 1 to 1, that person who was so poor, would be rich, but if it doesn't effect the internal value of the Dinar, then why would they stay in a land where they were poor, when with 1 Million Dinar/USD, they could be very comfortable elsewhere...
These are very good questions and I can only answer the 4th one, so hopefully someone else will field the others because I would like to know as well.

    My answer to #4:
If bread and milk costs 25,000 dinar, if it went 1:1 then the prices should go down quite a bit because there would be a lot more spending, merchants making profits, becoming competitive with each other (very healthy) .....but would definitely see a very large increase in spending. If it stayed at 25000 dinar for bread and milk, then 1M dinar would be enough for a cart of groceries. So what would most likely happen, is the prices would drop (increased spending, rise in profits, etc) they would not be rich, but they would definitely go from "poor" to "well off"

What's keeping them from leaving the country so they can be rich elsewhere?

    Who knows? Family?

    Nothing, actually.

But I would guess that it has a lot to do with the same reasons I wont move to Mexico to live like a king.

Hey, everyone. Don't forget, if there is someone that you don't want to read their remarks, click on their name and add them to your ignore list. It's that simple.
I believe in this investment. That is why I read this forum everyday! If you don't believe in the investment, why on earth are you even, in your mind, wasting YOUR time here? I guess some people have nothing better to do with their time than bring others down to their level.
So remember!! Use the ignore option, when needed, keep your head held high, say a prayer every day and treat others as you want to be treated.
It will happen. It has to. Iraq cannot stay on the course they are on. It has been documented over and over. The currency needs to and will increase in value.

    Have a great day!!
