You picked the perfect day to become a lop-eared bunny, Munny!

This theory has been debunked so many times, it's just crazy. I don't even remember all the arguments. What I do remember is that I haven't ever heard any "reasons" for the theory in the first place. It just wouldn't accomplish anything! Their money wouldn't actually BE more valuable, it would just look better. Oh goodie! Feeding their pride is pretty useless when they're starving and homeless. And then what? When they make it fully convertible and market forces get to work on it, they'll end up having to do a reverse lop or end up with the dinar being worth too much! Not just $3.00 - $5.00 but tens, hundreds, or even thousands.

I've always thought there was some sense to your slow growth theory - it's not what I want, of course, and there are plenty of signs to suggest the big reval but the slow growth is also possible. The lop makes no sense to me and, like I said, I've seen no sensible theory to support it.

Don't worry there wont be a zero lop.

Also it's a nice model, but I don't think it is going to hold up very well if Iraq actually goes ISX.

If it did, every country EXCEPT Iraq would own everything IN Iraq.

If Iraq does not go ISX until 2009, then you could be right on the munny.

    Default Lop

I, myself, never put this idea to rest. I think we should all keep in mind that this could very well happen. I think a lop option will always exist. It may be a last resort option or may be an option they had planned to use all along. I often wondered why people would think a re-print needs to happen, when in fact, if the lower denoms exist, it seems to me they did the re-print at the beginning of this game with that intention. I sure hope I am wrong and I hold a good lump of Dinar myself. I am NOT a naysayer. I am just keeping all option on the plate.

Please do not BASH over this. I am not trying to destroy anyones dreams. I share the same dreams of being wealthy.

So instead of my hoping I'm wrong and getting the 1:1, I now think the 1:1 (or higher) will gut my investment (Zero Lop). The slow grow will actually pay out much bigger if achieved. I'm working on a newer updated version of the M2/Purchase Power Parity that lays out the numbers. Hopefully I'll have it done and posted this weekend.

By all means have your opinion but random thoughts and/or paranoiah are not opinions. Opinions have some reasoning behind them and I still don't see what that could be. I didn't say anything about a reprint - they will need smaller denominations with either scenario. I just don't see what benefit there would be in a lop. What do you think it would accomplish?

I hope this doesn't sound harsh - that isn't my intention. I just want to understand why and how people think a lop would help.

    If they DID....

what a HORRIBLE thing to do to their own people...

I don't think all of those Iraqi's that are as anxious as we are about the RV they have been promised over and over again by CBI would be very happy at all if they did that.

CBI is going to want to help eliminate or at least curb the violence, not add on to it.

    That's just 1 reason.

A lop is referring to lopping zeros off the currency to get away from the huge amounts - 3 zeros has been suggested so that 25,000 dinar would be just 25 dinars.

By the way, I still haven't got an answer to my question: what good could this do?

The ISX is the Iraqi Stock Exchange.
