(and YES, it is good to have you back MrsCK).
I can only add that, what makes vietnams currency in worst shape? All I have read is how much better they are getting all around. Now if you are meaning their comparision to exchange rate to the dollar. Every currency has to start some where. All depends on the exceptence of the two countries amonst each other. This is why Iran and others have no exchange value with the US. They are not excepted. IMHO.....

    LETS START WITH THE CBI:

"The Iraqi Central Bank made buying and selling rates for the dollar on Thursday, February 1, 2007 until the end of office hours on Sunday, which falls on February 4, 2007 and pledged to meet the demand for foreign currency without limit and regardless of the quantities required and all its customers."
FOR THIS WEEK AND ANOTHER TIME IN JANUARY CBI PUT THE "BRAKES" THIS LAST TIME AROUND 1290. NOW ALL THE NEWS CLIPS ABOUT THE BUDGET SAY 1260. WHY NOT CONTINUE AUCTIONS DOWN TO 1260?

"In regard to the new policy pursued by the Central Bank of Iraq and to raise the value of the Iraqi dinar through the opening of the auction's daily buying and selling of foreign currencies minister explained that this policy aimed to raise the value of the Iraqi dinar against other currencies, especially the dollar through a fixed exchange rate of exchange and the value of '1260' dinars to the dollar with a financial policy for the Iraqi dinar to normal, pointing out that the House did not approve a plan of implementation so far" NOT BEEN APPROVED??? HMMM IT'S IN THE BUDGET - RV IS IN THAT ONE LITTLE PARAGRAPH IN THE BUDGET.

Arabic side of CBI for thursday:
    1. Note that : * the sale price of remittances dinars (1288) / $. Sale price * cash (1301) dinars / $.
    2. The quantity sold, the amount of cash (28.540.000) $ and the amount of remittances (57.950.000) dollars.

Newspaper and ENGLISH side THURSDAY of CBI:
The exchange rate was stable at 1292 dinars per dollar from last Thursday but it was lower to 1290 in today's session.
The demand for dollar was slightly lower on Thursday, the last trading session this week, reaching $86.490 million compared to $92.165 million on Wednesday in Iraq’s central bank daily auction.
NOW WHY DOES THE ARABIC SIDE AND THE ENGLISH SIDE DON'T MATCH??? DOES THIS MAYBE SHOW TWO SETS OF BOOKS?? ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS ONE?

In regards to the difference in the numbers from the Arabic and English sides of the CBI site, I remember a while back seeing a break down of the auction that included Exchange fees. As I recall the In country fee was higher about 8 dinar. Remittances abroad were charged at two dinar I believe. Maybe this answers that question.

On the rest of your work here, well I found it superb! You make a great case here.
It seems that the state insists, or preserve the value of the Iraqi dinar 148 against the dollar ...Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states [ MOF Sept 2006]

High RV is like Coke; it’s the real thing baby!

    Jesus Loves You

    Howdy..

Though I don't log in and post much... I am glad Ms CK is back... it mad eme mad like someone was calling my mom a nasty name... thanks for staying strong.. SGS too.

Just following up on your thoughts... I knw there is a lot lost in translation with Iraq, but not with WTO. I have a friend who is looking up all WTO members and their current exchange rates to the dollar and the euro. Maybe there is a wierd clue about reval ranges with that... I am sure (My opinion obviously) that Iraq would not want to go into WTO and be the lowest player..

I have two fellow physicians in Vietnam right now... I told them to buy Dong and I will stay with Dinar.. they said "SO... the government corruption is very high here, multiple sets of books, liberal laws that make it difficult to enforce anything and a wierd government mafia.. why would the value go up..."

anyway.. I will look into the WTO scales and see if there is anything.. although someone here could beat me to it...

Thanks for being tough and sharing your rumors / connections... in truth the hope is more contagious than the ugly comments from the peanut gallery.

    Linus
