Donating may not effect the outcome, but it will give Bryan enough working capital to keep the lawyers working for us. The lawyers are not going to continue working if there is no money to pay them. And with no lawyers, Bryan is a sitting duck.

A billion in Pips is good collateral for some grubby " no win , no fee " lawyer .

EXACTLY!!!! Lawyers all over the world take cases EVERYDAY on a "no win, no pay" or "pay when win" basis. (however you choose to look at it).
These lawyers do it for individuals and companies alike with MUCH,MUCH less money than PIPS. This would be a HUGE payoff for any lawyer/lawyers to win a case like this for a BILLION DOLLAR Corporation. Unless they know something we dont know, then I can see why they would want their money upfront. I can only think of a couple of reasons they would want paid upfront, and in either case I dont want to donate anymore money.

While I agree with the collateral idea, I think this would apply if he was actually charged with something and in court defending his case.
