    Iraq and Kuwait to discuss the compensation issue on the sidelines of the economic conference, the end of the month

    Labeed M. Abbawi, however, assured the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iraq will attend the economic summit to be held in Kuwait on 19 and 20 of this month, which will be at the level of kings and presidents.

    Labeed M. Abbawi said that Iraq take advantage of the opportunity to attend the first Arab economic summit in Kuwait next week to open the file of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

    Labeed M. Abbawi said that Iraq and Kuwait to discuss all the files and the common issues between the parties.

Abbawi said that the summit will deal with the establishment of a customs union and a card that allows the investor the movement of businessmen between the Arab states, expressing his hope that the Conference will address economic and financial issues, especially in light of the global financial crisis.

    Labeed M. Abbawi said that Iraq will participate in the meetings of ministers of trade and finance as well, pointing out that the conference represents an opportunity to identify the Arab cooperation and coordination in all these issues.

    Lower demand for the dollar in CBI’s auction

    Demand for the dollar went down in the Central Bank of Iraq’s (CBI) auction on Tuesday, registering at $239.465 million, compared to $328.865 million in the previous session.

    “The demand hit $47.435 million in cash, covered by the bank at an exchange rate of 1,177 Iraqi dinars, and $192.03 million in foreign transfers outside the country covered by the bank at an exchange rate of 1,174 Iraqi dinars per dollar, according to a CBI news bulletin received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

    None of the 15 banks that participated in today’s session offered to sell dollars.

    The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday.

    Kurdish lawmaker: the reconstruction of Iraq needs to build infrastructure, not buy 2000 tank

    A member of the Iraqi Council of Representatives of the Kurdistan Alliance MP Mahmoud Othman said that Iraq is now in need of reconstruction of infrastructure and revitalize the national economy and not the 2000 purchase of the tanks T-72 Russian-made.

    The minister said, "and fears of a Kurdish armament contracts of this magnitude, they might come at the expense of the core priorities needed by the Iraqi people represented in the provision of services, and providing employment opportunities for the unemployed and improve the economic situation in the country."

    He criticized the lack of Osman "by the Iraqi government introduced a recent deal to buy Russian tanks on fundamental political forces participating in the government," noting that "failure to offer such deals on the political forces participating in the government is not justified does not know the motives."

    Cabinet approves draft law on ratification of the financial agreement

    "a spokesman for the Iraqi government Ali al-Dabbagh, on Wednesday, that the Council of Ministers decided during its first meeting in the new year to approve a draft law ratifying the Convention signed with the financial institution for International Development of the World Bank.

    And Dabbagh said in a statement received by the agency (Voices of Iraq) a copy of which was that the council decided in its "approval of the draft law for ratification of a loan agreement (the emergency water supply project) meeting between the Republic of Iraq and the Foundation for International Development of the World Bank, signed on 15/10/2008 and submitted to the Iraqi Council of Representatives to approve the legislation in accordance with the provisions of Article (80 / II) of the Constitution."

    The statement pointed out that the project would come "for the purpose of granting a soft loan to establish a project for processing emergency water, according to the corrected version of the project as the Convention in its entirety to the reconstruction of infrastructure in Iraq through the International Development Association loans."

    He pointed out that "the objective of this project is to improve the quality and quantity of the water supply in selected provinces," pointing out that the provinces are Dhi Qar, Diwaniyah and Wasit and Amarah.

    The Council of Ministers decided at the same meeting, held on (1-11), according to the statement, the approval of the "Law on Legislation of the Ministry of Communications and IT and telecommunications law and the law of the Iraqi media and the revision of the law of the media and communications and broadcasting to become a regulatory body is the organization of the frequency."

    The statement added that "The ministry will allocate frequencies in coordination with the ministries and other special security and that the ministry is the official representative of Iraq in the International Telecommunication Union and participate in the representation and that the body be the responsibility of web site hosting symbol IQ (which symbolizes Iraq) to the ministry and the role of the regulatory body the IQ".

    The purpose of the legislation of the law is "to organize the work in communications and the preparation of key controls and broadcast media and adopted in the licensing and broadcasting transmission services and wireless services at the national level and access to network services and to link them with the organization of radio frequency spectrum and radios."

    He pointed out that "the draft law is the promotion of knowledge and cultural diversity of the citizen to take advantage of the options available to him in respect of rates and quality of services and protect the interests of the citizen as a beneficiary of communications services" and "ensure the operation of telecommunications and broadcasting services and the transfer of information in a way consistent with the standards of public safety".

    Finally, the Council also decided to approve "the addition of a representative of the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan regional government of not less functional degree to the Director General of the Iraqi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science."

    He pointed out that "the purpose of a representative from the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan regional government in the Iraqi National Commission for Education, Science and Culture is speaking of the national approach to make the representation of an integrated pan-Iraq within the Commission," adding that the request was made by "the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan region and through representation of the region."

    The Presidency Council to approve a law on the Japanese loan
