Thanks Adster for all that info and the links. This is something I am beginning to study starting a couple of days ago (with my pm to you).

Mike, you raise a very good point with the agricultural issue. I had read already and understood the river and water issue, as water in itself is a massively important commodity in the middle-east (anywhere for that matter), but hadn't related the agricultural implications until reading your post. This is perhaps the most important aspect of the potential recovery in Iraq, even greater than the oil factor. What better way to start a stable economy than with agriculture? And then there is oil for huge revenues...

Again thanks to both of you for the good information and thanks also to the copy & pasters who are provoking more of the same.

IG Agents Break 100 Billion Dinar Counterfeit Ring in Iraq

Agents from the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) and the 812th Military Police Company assisted by Iraqi police and the Ministry of Finance have broken a counterfeit printing operation in Baghdad and seized counterfeit currency worth 100 billion dinars.

DCIS agents and Military Police raided two locations, seized printing presses and arrested Amar Fadil Ramadan Al-Kayse, an Iraqi national who was subsequently released to Iraqi Ministry of Interior officials for prosecutorial action by the Iraqi Ministry of Justice and Courts.

The investigation leading to the arrest of Al-Kayse revealed that Al-Kayse was printing and attempting to pass counterfeit 250 Iraqi dinar notes to the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), which is funded and operated by the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA). Al-Kayse owned and operated the Sarmad Company for Printing, a local Baghdad printing shop and worked as editor of Nuktat Dhaw (“Spot Light”), a newspaper in Baghdad.

“The close cooperation between Iraqi officials alongside DCIS agents and the Military Police shows once again the emerging partnership taking place within Baghdad the goal of which is a better future for all Iraqis” said Defense Inspector General Joseph E. Schmitz. “Had we not stopped this counterfeiting ring, it would have destabilized the Iraqi economy and postponed the day when economic and political order is restored to the people of Iraq.”

A new Iraqi currency will be introduced on Oct. 15. The ‘new Iraqi dinar’ will replace existing currency, which is printed with images of Saddam. Unlike the old, low-quality paper money in use in Iraq, the new currency will be very difficult to counterfeit. It incorporates a number of modern security features specifically designed to foil fraudsters.

Deputy Inspector General Rear Admiral Larry Poe was detailed as the first Inspector General for Ambassador Bremer in Baghdad. DCIS agents, along with auditors from the DoD IG, work in support of the CPA.
    Funny,

Here we go again, almost three year old article, the currency is as safe as US currency and it can no longer be counterfeit as it has mag strips in it, shadow images, special inks, special paper, ultra violet light checkable, and on and on, so why would a three year old article be of any interest now? I will give you an A for persistance, or it could stand for something else.

    Good luck to all, Mike

Can anyone post an image of these dinars? I bought some on ebay a while back. I would imagine they are the same, but who knows? I have 50's, 250's, 500's or 1000's. Thanks, Todd

These 2 are the main ones used...

    http://www.iraqidinar.org/new-10000-dinar.asp

Just do a google search on the others...
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

    Sailingdom,

Yea, hope he doesn't mind. Just my way of wishing everyone well, (even hassle)! LOL.

well i just got mine today (only 250k) from ompus. was talking to the lady there and she mentioned that one of their guys was killed during one of their forays. this was sometime ago and more of a fluke...

i hope This is a positive fluke.

    but guess what? conspiracy!

these new notes have special trackers - which can be tracked by various EM technologies. there's a huge computer/data base that keeps track of all this. so if you have some, where ever it is, it has been detected already.
i won't tell you why they are doing this ...or what they have in store for all the fools who bought them.
it does'nt matter tho; no one believes in conspiracy theories. especially when it's just to take up bandwidth.

but i did notice a black sedan out front a few hours ago....
