I was thinking about you Mike- I live near Erie, PA. I was wondering if this news about the Parliamentarians defering the HCL until after the elections next year was the death knell for the IQD as far as the next few months go? I don't visit other forums but have a friend that does and sends an occasional post my way. Lately he has sent a bunch. They are titillating rumours and supposed INTEL reports from various sources on various subjects. Still, makes a guy wonder... So how about a slightly more in-depth posting from you on what your take is. I mean, glad you think it could be this year but do you ever hear from any of your old oil pals in Kurdistan?

Good to hear from you too. My friends in Kurdistan are saying the same thing, the street seems to think it will happen sooner rather than later, just because no coinage for over a year, debit cards are in hands, no more U.S. dollars allowed to be used, Iraqi's holding onto dinar, retail markets a bit slower than usual. It is just a different climate financially speaking, which they admit is obviously no real reason to think it is about to happen, but no one can put a solid reason on why? All I hear is the majority feel it will happen, but the strangest thing is no one can say why. lol

I don't mention much about street talk these days much any more because I know how many are really hurting and so hopeful it happens, I hate to feed speculation for it hurts to get hopes up after all this time. I wish I could convey what the vibes are all about for no one on the street should know what is really going on, but just call it a feeling of total optimism after such a long time with none, I wish I could say it is backed by hard facts, but it isn't. It must be spreading for I feel it all the way over here. lol

I want to post here so people see your name as the most recent post there...
My question for you is- since the GCC is (still) planning a new currency and Iraq wasn't listed as one of the participants (yet) but we all know they are being invited to get their act together to join in... Do you feel Iraq will need to have their currency RV'd or RI'd BEFORE coming on board with the GCC, or at least before the issuance of the coming new GCC currency?

I feel the same about passing on rumors. I've been sent some great sounding rumors posted in forums I don't visit. They remind me of the glorious and bloody ROLClub Rumor War of 2 years ago! I wonder whatever happened to all the "greats" of that era? Anyway, I don't pass them on. I figure its better if people don't spend their time with their nose buried in dinar rumors, but the real reason is- it makes me look bad as they haven't come true yet.

Yes, we have all heard the rumors for years, and nothing has panned out, so we have learned our lessons, right? lol As to your question, this too has been on the rumor mill for a long time now, and as I see it, Iraq will be invited when the time comes, but think about it, Iraq is not even in the same ball park as all the other member countries, so I suspect the Iraqi dinar must revalue first before considering being part of GCC as there has to be more parity in values of all regional currencies before it makes sense.

Having seen so much talk about all these issues going on for years, nothing happens fast in the region, and most of what we read is just plain old BS as I see it, or should I say CS for camel. lol Every other day we hear an opposite remark from all sides of issue, so there is no telling what and when the GCC will happen, but given the pressures now put on the dollar as it drops, we know they are discussing it, and this is good given the Iraqi dinar will have to be involved at some point in time, this we know, so it may just fool us all and happen sooner rather than later, but no, I don't think it depends on GCC actions or inaction as it could be said by many.

This is very scary stuff. Now that we have a chance at living a little better, debt free, it could all of been for nothing but I AM NOT GIVING UP. It would be worse if we did and then everything works out and we are left out in the cold. lol My best to all and hand in there.

Nidya, never give up, patience wins every time. I think we win some form of a "prize" in this thing, just not the Buzillions the pumpers pushed at everyone. I have read this a lot of times, and every time I think about what happened when we changed to Euro some years ago. Germany changed at 1.95583 DEM/1 EUR whereas Italy changed at 1936.27 ITL/1 EUR and the great imparity in value was no problem then. Any thoughts on this?

One consideration might be that when the Euro came into play Italy's money was not being artificially controlled and having its value suppressed. A complaint of the Iraqis is, they want to return to the pre-Saddam rate sooner rather than later. They have assets to back the currency in the form of gold and foreign currency reserves in the CBI, and of course, the most valuable assets of oil and gas stashed away in the "Sand Bank"! Once they can demonstrate they can sustain that rate with a balanced economy- well.... then I think we can expect to see the RV or RI. Can they produce 6 million barrels of oil a day yet? Consistently?
