Dollar Demand Drops Sharply in Iraq Exchange
Monday Auction Barely Reaches Half of Sunday's $68 Million
Posted 1 hr. 4 min. ago
Baghdad, March 5, (VOI) – Demand for the dollar sharply declined in the Iraqi Central Bank’s daily auction on Monday, only reaching $35.555 million compared with $67.810 million on Sunday.

In its daily statement, the bank said it had covered all bids, which included $11.040 million in cash and $24.515 million in foreign transfers, at an exchange rate of 1,279 dinars per dollar, one tick lower than yesterday.

Thirteen banks participated in Monday's auction and offered to sell 4 million dollars, which the Central Bank bought at 1,277 dinars per dollar.

Abdul-Razzaq al-Abaiyji, an economist, told VOI that the bids and offers made by the banks at the Central Bank's daily auction are governed by, amongst other things, the principle of supply and demand, adding that "a tick lower in the exchange rate could not have considerably affected demand for the dollar, as it sharply dropped in today's session."

    Default one thing

I have thingto disagree with you . Our dinar is a commodity, and we should not pay an additional fee on a commodity, I could be wrong but I dont think commodities are subject to capital gains.
One other thing you might want to look into is creating a private tust or what its know as a pure trust , that is located in the united states and is totally private , no goverment agency can penetrate it. If you are interested, contact Michelle at mid atlantic trusts/ just something to ponder

I think this person is tipping us off!

Supply and demand has created a lower demand for dollars. The banks are holding their Dinar. Perhaps in anticipation of something BIG? Hmmmm...

Exactly, but it would be a significant sign if the demand for dollars continues to drop. We have had auction below this one, so if it continues to drop for coming auctions, then they are drying up and we know what that will lead to
