1. 1 Dinar rate change today, it was 1279, it is now 1278

2. A (net) worth of dinars, IQD - 84,680,280,000 pulled out of circulation on today. (3/07/07)

3. 12 banks participating today

4. 97th auction since the beginning of CBI's reval plan

5. 158 days into the CBI's reval plan.

6. 6,339,086,680,000 dinars pulled from circulation !!

7. "0" Dinars back into circulation today

8. 199 dinar change since Oct 1st (baseline was 1477) 13.473% increase in value of the dinar since beginning of reval plan (Approximatly Oct 1st).

9. 2 point reduction in the rate so far this week. Was at 1280 at the end of last week, 1278 so far this week.

10. 2 point drop in the month of Mar. Ended at 1280 in Feb, now stands at 1278.
In January we saw a 2.49% drop in the rate.
In February we saw a .928% drop in the rate.

بحث الدكتور حسين الشهرستاني وزير النفط مع السفير الصيني في العراق سبل الارتقاء بمستوى العلاقات بين البلدين في جميع المجالات وامكانية الغاء او خفض الديون الصينية المستحقة على العراق.

Dr. Hussein Shahrastani oil minister with the Chinese Ambassador in Iraq, ways to upgrade the relations between the two countries in all fields. The possibility of eliminating or reducing the debt owed by the Chinese Iraq.

وقال بيان للوزارة:"ان الشهرستاني بحث خلال استقباله السفير الصيني الجديد في بغداد تشن شياو دونغ العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين لاسيما المشاريع النفطية وموضوع الديون الصينية".

A statement by the Ministry : "Shahrastani discussed during his reception of new Chinese ambassador in Baghdad Dong Chen Chiao bilateral relations between the two countries, especially oil projects and the debt issue Chinese. "

واضاف:"ان الجانبين تطرقا الى الزيارة المرتقبة لرئيس الجمهورية جلال طالباني للصين".

He added : "The two sides also discussed the forthcoming visit of President Jalal Talabani of China."

واوضح البيان:"ان السفير الصيني اكد ان الصين تولي اهتماما كبيرا لعلاقاتها مع العراق وتتوقع توسعا كبيرا لهذه العلاقات بعد زيارة السيد جلال طالباني للصين وان تكون مثمرة بفضل الجهود المشتركة بين البلدين".

The statement said : "The Chinese ambassador emphasized that China attaches great importance to its relations with Iraq and expects a major expansion of these relations after the visit Mr. Jalal Talabani to China and be fruitful thanks to the joint efforts between the two countries. "

واشار السفير الى ان الحكومة الصينية اعلنت عن الغائها للديون المستحقة على العراق اذ سيتم اعفاء العراق من جميع الديون الحكومية وبالنسبة لديون الشركات غير الحكومية فستعمل الحكومة الصينية بالتنسيق مع هذه الشركات والتشاور معها واقناعها لخفض ديونها او الغائها ". وتابع:"ان السفير الصيني اوضح ان بلاده تتطلع الى التوصل لاتفاق مبدئي بشان التعاون المشترك بين الجانبين العراقي والصيني بشان المشاريع النفطية ولا سيما مشروع حقول الاحدب". واشار الى:" ان الوزير بين ان العراق يسعى الى توسيع علاقاته التصديرية بالسوق الاسيوية لانه�� سوق واعدة بالنسبة للعراق اذ ان اسعار النفط الخام في الصين او السوق الاسيوية يحقق اسعارا اعلى مما عليه في الاسوا ق الاوربية والاميركية 0 ومن ناحية ثانية نجح الوفد العراقي في مباحثاته مع صندوق النقد الدولي من تخفيض النسبة المتبق��ة من ديونه والبالغة 20 بالمائة.

The ambassador pointed out that the Chinese government announced the cancellation of debts owed by Iraq as they will be exempt from all of Iraq debt government and corporate debt for the non-governmental Chinese government will act in coordination with these companies and to consult with them and convince them to reduce or cancel debt . " He continued : "The Chinese ambassador said that his country looks forward to reaching a tentative agreement on the joint cooperation between the two sides on the Iraqi and Chinese projects oil fields, especially the Al-Ahdab. " He pointed out : "The minister pointed out that Iraq is seeking to expand its relations export to the Asian market that a promising market for Iraq as the price of crude oil in China or the Asian market to achieve higher prices than in the worst s European and American 0-1 the other hand, succeeded Iraqi delegation in talks with the International Monetary Fund to reduce the Almetbq e of the debt, amounting to 20%.

ونقل عاصم جهاد الناطق الرسمي لوزارة النفط عن الدكتور حسين الشهرستاني عضو الوفد المفاوض قوله اليوم:"ان العراق استطاع خفض الديون العراقية بنسبة 20 بالمائة، اي بواقع 28 مليار دولار خلال المفاوضات التي اجراها الوفد العراقي والذي ضم ايضا وزير المالية باقر جبر ومحافظ البنك المركزي الدكتور سنان الشبيبي مع وفد الصندوق الدولي في دولة الامارات واضاف الشهرستاني:" ان الوفد العراقي استطاع ايضا اقناع الصندوق الدولي بسحب مطلبه القاضي برفع اسعار المشتقات النفطية بنسبة 15 بالمائة، لكون الوضع المعاشي للشعب العراقي لايسمح بفرض مثل هذه الزيادة." واوضح :" ان العراق سيقدم الى صندوق النقد الدولي في شهر نيسان القادم تقريرا يوضح فيه ايفاء العراق بالتزاماته بشان الاصلاحات الاقتصادية التي طلبها." وناشد الشهرستاني الدول العربيةوالاجنبية بان تحذو حذو الولايات المتحدة اذ الغت ديونها المترتبة على العراق ، وتخفيض بريطانيا واوربا نسبة ديونها عليه بمقدار 80 بالمائة وقال:" اعلنت الصين يوم امس اعفا ء العراق من دي��نه، لذا نحن نطالب الدول الخليجية وروسيا بتخفيض ديونهم تجاه العراق." وبين الشهرستاني ان الديون على العراق والبالغة 140 مل��ار دولار قد تم تخفيضها الفترة الماضية على شكل نسب مقابل اصلاحات اقتصادية يلجأ اليها العراق، وفي مقدمتها رفع اسعار منتج اته النفطية،وقد استطاع العراق العمل بهذا الاتفاق واستطاع من تخفيض النسب المتبقية من ديونه البالغة 20 بالمائة.

All my contacts are asking me what's the deal so they can split this scene! That's why my rational side says it can't happen until the conflict ends... We are so tired here, and can't believe these folks just won't do right. One of the Iraqis I speak with on occations says that these folks are so blinded by their pride and hatred for each other that a RV would not matter. They would just keep killing each other with a full belly. Sad sad... Dang!
