We know about the Hydrocarbon and Gas Summit scheduled for April 17-18 to sign contracts and carve up the turkey. The major multi-national, multi-billion dollar companies are waiting to move into Iraq and make a Shiite load of cash off of the drilling, refining, and distribution of Iraqi's Oil and Gas. Everyone knows its coming, its all a matter of time.

Companies dont get to the multi-billion dollar level by being anything less than shrewd in there business practices. They know they are going in, so why wouldnt the procure dinar now and rock bottom prices and just hold them? Why pay $1-$3 for something when you can pay $1 and get 1288 of them?????

This is all dinar that WONT come rushing in when a reval occurs! I am sure we are talking about billions and billions (if not trillions) of dinar being held by private corporations world wide that would show up on a spead sheet as some kind of capital investment. My feeling is that the dinar being held by Joe Schmo is so miniscule in comparison, we dont matter.

We are simply the cost of doing business. So in my mind, the arguement that Iraq cant reval at a high figure, $1 - $3+ becuase everyone will cash out and destroy the dinar value, it just doesnt hold water (or oil).
Yes. In addition we have to remember that everyday there are people discovering this investment and getting on board. Whenever we decide to cash in our dinar, the bank won't necessarily run to the CBI and ask for dollars. They will just sell it to other investors just like us. Their return on investment won't be as astronomical as it is for us but if they buy in at $1.20 they will still double their money and since the HCL, FIL will all be done the perceived risk will not be as high either.

BAGHDAD, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Iraqi forces will step up their deployment on the streets of Baghdad this week as part of a U.S.-backed offensive against militants, Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Sunday.
The crackdown, which U.S. officials said began last week, is seen as a final attempt to prevent an all-out sectarian war between Iraq's dominant Shi'ites and minority Sunni Arabs.

While saying the offensive would accelerate at a gradual pace, Maliki said "very soon, this week, will witness a heavy deployment of the security forces from (the Iraqi) police and the army".

U.S. President George W. Bush has promised to send 21,500 more American troops, mostly to Baghdad, to help with the plan. Thousands of Iraqi reinforcements have already arrived from other parts of the country.

Some 85,000 U.S. and Iraqi soldiers will be available for the offensive when all reinforcements are in place.

Both Bush and Maliki are under growing pressure from war- weary constituents to halt Iraq's descent into chaos.

Shown on local television, Maliki said the increased deployment would take place across all of Baghdad's districts.

"The plan aims at cleaning these areas and disarming (militants)," Maliki said.

He said the crackdown was intended to make it safe for residents forced to flee their homes by sectarian attacks to return.

Maliki, a Shi'ite Islamist, has vowed to tackle militants on both sides of the sectarian divide. He has been criticised in the past for failing to confront Shi'ite militias tied to parties within his government.

Maliki said the security plan also aimed to revive the economy in Baghdad and boost government services that have been badly affected by violence.

Abdul-Mahdi's visit to Najaf comes after a one-week visit to Tehran early this month, coinciding with a visit by Abdul-Aziz al-Haeem, the leader of the Shiite Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), to Najaf.
The visits fall within efforts and political moves along the new security plan.
