    Anyway, the situation is this:
My oldest daughter is applying for an exchange program with the university; to study in the USA for one semester. She has her nr.1 choice already picked out but need to have alternatives.

She wants to go somewhere where the climate is good (= warm! ) but not TOO hot... She wants to get away from the Swedish winter, and her first choice is a university in California; partly because of the weather but mostly because they seem to have a very good drama education (she is majoring in Economics and Drama - strange combination, huh?! Actually it's not a combination but two separate educations)

Gee, I'm rambling... Anyway, she needs more alternatives, and there are universities in the exchange program in Alabama, Arizona and Texas. Which one has the nicest weather?
(there is one in Lafayette, Indiana, also which would have been kind of fun since I was there (in Indiana)as an exchange student many years ago...But when she heard that it snows there it wasn't so interesting anymore )

So people, please give her advice and opinions! The more the better!
    /Karin
Being a native of Arizona, I can tell you that if the program is in Tempe or Tucson (Arizona State University or University of Arizona) and you don't want to go through 120 degree summers, then stay away. If the program is in Flagstaff (Northern Arizona University) then you should consider it. It's a cooler climate with Phoenix only a 2 hour drive away. Its also one of the nicest locations in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is only a couple of hours away as well!

    Just my opinion.

Her first choice is Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo, California.
And I think she will be there during fall, not spring (but not sure)

    Phiberoptic, you said:

Where is mason dixie? I don't even know if it's in California or if you are referring to another state...

Thanks for all your answers! Keep'em coming please!

Well I live in California AND I went to Cal Poly. If her interest is drama, though, San Fransico is the most reputable for that course.

    Just to update y'all...
My daughter just called - SHE GOT IT!!! And almost 100% sure her first alternative, too!
About 180 persons from Uppsala University applied; 90 of them applied to California (different universities in Cal.) They had 26 scholarships - and Janya (my daughter) got one of them!!!
She was so happy so she almost cried when she called.
She had been called to an interview today, after having sent in her application letter. And at the inteview they told her that her application letter had been SOOO outstanding! She had really succeeded in conveying WHY she wanted to go there. And they were sure she would be a good representative of Uppsala University!

I am so proud (but actually not so surprised... )and happy for her! She will be there one year (I thought it was one semester), and she gets the education in the scholarship. Still has to pay accomodation, food etc - but she would have to do that here also so it's the same.

    Karin,
Tell your daughter I am so happy for her! I'm sure you carry such pride! This is a great opportunity. I hope and pray everything goes well.
