    Unhappy Members only.

So henceforth only members will be able to access the forum

    Just one question.

Would you join a forum without first having a look to see what it is all about and how members behave?

I think that you are wrong to take this action.

Basically, I agree that viewing a forum first is what should be allowed, although with the low level of hidden agendas demonstrated by some at TG, it may not be worth the risk since it appears that most of the source of DDOSing points back to that source.

The agenda there is to destroy programs that are viable and to push the ponzis that they are part of.

    Cool

If the reason for not allowing non members to view because of past behaviour of some current members, it doesn’t make sense.

I mean what damage can someone do just being able to view? Maybe admin meant non-members not being able to post as guests and I would go along with that.

However if some members of TG have been the source of attacks on this forum then this forum must be doing something right and getting up the noses of the trolls.

Maybe the answer would be to have one or two extra moderators from around the world so that there would be someone ‘on duty’ during the whole 24 hours. If there were a mod from the states, one from the UK/Western Europe, one from the middle east/India and one from Oz/New Zealand (that is roughly 6 hours apart) there would always be one mod on line. No! I don’t want a job as a mod on this forum.

The other point is, if you have a rule that states, “Members must not do this or you will get banned” and a member transgresses - then ban them for good. No three strikes and your out business. Mods have the discretion to warn offenders for minor breaches. I feel that warnings should be public in the thread where the offence took place. This also passes a message to others.

For example rule 1 states: “You will have to login to the forum atleast once a month to have your account active with us. If you do so, you will keep getting the email updates from us.” I joined this forum in October 2005 and have just 11 posts to my name yet I can still log in and get email updates. There is no point in having rules if they are not enforced. Actually I think that once a month is far too short. Once a year is better and will reduce the mods workload if they are to enforce this rule.

It is assumed that each new and even current member has read the rules so there is no excuse. Mods should enforce the rules without fear or favour and above all else all mods should speak with the same voice. Meaning that if one mod takes action no other mod should undermine them. Show a united front to the forum members. But mods can only do that if the rules are clear and unambiguous. This might be a good time to look at the rules again and check the formatting. Sloppy presentation only encourages people to ignore them. A few ‘pleases’ and ‘members are asked’ would not go amiss.

You will always get a few members ganging up and backing each other when one gets hauled over the coals for something. Don’t get embroiled in an argument about why a mod did what they did.

As a new member signs up s/he ticks the “I have read the rules” box so it’s not admin’s fault if they haven’t. Maybe a 1 minute delay could be introduced before the Register button becomes active. This would ‘encourage’ the potential new member to read the rules rather than sitting there just waiting.

However the rules that are displayed are nothing like the rules displayed at http://www.rolclub.com/rolclub-rules...rules-tos.html so quite frankly they are a waste of space.

Do the mods and admin have a private folder where they can discuss issues as they arise?

By the way – don’t slag off other forums. It only invites reciprocal action.

One other small point. Limit the activeness of the EDIT button. It will prevent usurpers from altering their previous posts so that it makes nonsense of the thread. Have the EDIT button active for say one hour after the post has been made.

There are plenty of Moderators on this forum spread all around the globe. You make a good point and it is a subject that the Mods have discussed.

The other point is, if you have a rule that states, “Members must not do this or you will get banned” and a member transgresses - then ban them for good. No three strikes and your out business. TOS are being enforced more rigorously than ever before at the request of the members. All members were polled on this.

For example rule 1 states: “You will have to login to the forum atleast once a month to have your account active with us. If you do so, you will keep getting the email updates from us.” I joined this forum in October 2005 and have just 11 posts to my name yet I can still log in and get email updates. Noted.

Correct. This has happened a few times, but it is being picked up quickly these days.

Yes, and it is very active!

By the way – don’t slag off other forums. It only invites reciprocal action.

Completely agree! Let the other forums get on with what they want to do and leave them to their own devices. We don't want a forum war.

One other small point. Limit the activeness of the EDIT button. It will prevent usurpers from altering their previous posts so that it makes nonsense of the thread. Have the EDIT button active for say one hour after the post has been made.
You raise some valid points jambutty.
Admin will have his reasons for this action and it will have not been done just to annoy anyone.

Thanks for the intelligent post, it is most welcome.
