Starting to plan a trip to Mauritius next year with my wife. Have a quick question as to where to stay, Location/area not resort.
Ideally we would like to be on the beach and within easy walking distance of places to eat and nightlife

When I plan a trip, I always make big research, read forums and reviews of the best hotels/places on sites like TripAdvisor. So, I highly recommend you to do the same. Here are some travel forums, I think you will find answers there https://travelsites.com/travel-forums/

I would recommend you to use the help of a traveling agency. They are in charge of everything, and they will definitely find you a good location to stay. It will be a bit more expensive, but it is worth it. I understood this from my big experience of traveling. I am working with stayreward.com for about two years. I am creating travel content, and I am not going to lie, I was in about 50 countries. And yes Mauritius is a very nice place. You will have an unforgettable time there. Hope my message will be helpful for you.

I think many people sometimes have trouble translating and understanding people in different countries or even in different regions of the same country. This is not surprising. But the interesting thing is that this is quite easy to fix. I think a lot of people will find the english vocabulary shortcutapp useful. You will understand how many new words you need to learn and how long it will take you to reach an expanded or even native vocabulary if you look up enough words every day.
