    Default Another currency investment?

We have talked a bit about forming some kind of investment club... I read something at another forum about dong (Viatnamese currency) and I wonder what you thoughts are on this?

    Dong Vs Dinar

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I buy alot of VND (Vietnamese Dong) and I just found this. Vietnam is in about the same place as Iraq in terms of WTO asessions, WB, IMF and already accepted Art.VIII. Billions being pummped into both countries (obviously more in Iraq). But here is the thing Vietnam seems a little ahead of Iraq on the R/V, Convertability thing. Not probably going to go as high as the Dinar but it is also 15,000:1 so we will see. Read this link and tell me what you think. If you want to discuss the VND you can PM me if Ken doesn't want us discussing other currency speculating here.

Just wondered if anyone has seen any of this type of things or we may want to keep an eye out for something like it with the Dinar as well.

Reuters supports Vietnam's fixed income and money markets with new benchmark curves

Hanoi – Reuters (LSE: RTR; NASDAQ: RTRSY) is the first information company to launch Vietnam Dong (VND) benchmark coupon curves following strong investor demand for government bonds in Vietnam.

To support the growing Vietnamese bond and foreign exchange markets, Reuters has released three new benchmark curves in Vietnam:

    • VND Risk Free Zero Coupon: a real-time curve derived from actively traded Vietnamese government bonds
    • Interbank Zero Coupon Curve: a real-time curve derived from interbank trading instruments such as deposit rates and interest rate swaps (IRS) prices contributed through Reuters. The curve can be used to price and revalue all customized IRS, long-term cross currency forward contracts and also cross currency swap in seconds.
    • VND Interbank Offer Rate Fixing: developed using key information such as currency exchange rate, currency swap points, and USD deposit rates

These new instruments will help meet the market’s demand for reliable, benchmark quality data to price Vietnamese bonds and currency and builds on Reuters strategy to develop the region’s fixed income and money markets.
