Mint Mobile is like Sams Club of Costco for cell phone service. I honestly don’t understand how this keeps the cost low for them, my best guess is that because they’re an NVMO, whatever network their on charges them a small fee every time a subscribers plan refreshes, and it might add up when spread over millions of users and you can contact mint mobile . By buying a sim card that lasts 3, 6, or 12 months they might avoid that fee. Another option is they’re just trying something new for people who don’t want to worry about the monthly payment of a regular plan and their profit margins are paper thin.
