My wife has a habit of frugality that she can't get rid of. For our home trash cans, she used grocery plastic bags that we get from our shopping trip. This is cost-effective and allows you to reuse a single element that is good for the environment. However, it is unpleasant to look at. The bags are not ideal for our modern stainless steel trash cans, which are visible from the outside rather than hidden inside kitchen cabinets (too big to fit inside). You have to tie it around the edges, and you can see that some part of it is sticking out from the outside of the lid. We spent a lot of money on renovations to have a very good kitchen....it just seems odd to have an ill-fitting bin bag. My wife said I was weird to make it bother me ... I think I'm anal about design and fit. I'm also in charge of taking out the trash at home, so I think I notice this on a daily basis. Does this bother anyone else?
I work in an office where they hire people who come in every day to vacuum and pick up the trash cans. I have noticed that the cleaners use an individual clear plastic bag for each type of bin size. They fit perfectly inside without any traces on the outside. I was thinking of buying something suitable for our trash can at home. Do you buy special garbage bags for your home trash cans?
