I not against this thing, but could someone explain to
me how practically the whole population of Iraq will
become millionaires overnight? Am I missing something here?
Genuine question.

Default I got a question.

Just got back from my trip to Tulsa where I bought some loverly dinar at the most friendly Chase bank.

Well, yesterday I called Chase and took them by complete surprise as I was the first to even mention the Iraqi dinar! I asked if they had any dinar on hand in any of the Tulsa branches. The nice exchange officer had to do some calling around and got back to me very promptly. The New York branches had some on hand and would have to ship it to Tulsa. And get this, she slipped (because of her complete surprise) and said we have someone here from your town right now! She asked a few questions and I most politely answered. You know, I am now an official Dinar Genuise.

Last nite my friend called and said that our mutual friend just happened to be at the Chase bank in Tulsa and heard them mention my name and had to call and see if it was really me. Yeahhhh!

When I arrived at Chase this morning and asked for the exchange officer they all said, "You must be Monica! We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. You got this place in quite a stir yesterday. We have all jumped on board and now we are proud owners of dinar." They proceeded to ask questions and I continued to answer with my vast knowledge (lol) that I have attained over these last months with the help of all my friends here.

What a great story!

Okay, here is the question..... One of the tellers, who was a tad bit negative, (got one in every pot), asked why none of their Iraqi customers are beating down the doors to buy the dinar. I answered that I did not know, maybe they had relatives in Iraq purchasing it for them. It is cheaper over there. Or maybe they don't know that Chase is selling it.

Any of you have any comments?

What a great story Monica, and ya done good! I would like to take a stab at the negative teller's question, (will refer to him/her as "Crabapple") in this post..But I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head..Are there THAT many Iraqi's in Tulsa, LOL? Shows what I know, but I get my dinars from Safedinar. They are delivered right to my door 24-48 hours after I order 'em and I'll bet alot of Iraqi's order theirs from various places, get 'em from relatives like you said, E-bay, etc. Crabapple assumes all Iraqi's know what's going on with all economic developments, political policies, etc., in Iraq? Hey, I'm American, but I didn't buy Google stock either. Been kickin' myself ever since..

Is this to be considered as a long term investment?
How long do you believe it will take for the dinar to climb to prewar value?
Thanks.

I bought my first million dinar in April of 2004, and believed at the time it might be a 10 year hold. I figured I would bury it away in a cool, dry place and let them sleep. My motivation for doing so was the vast uncertainity surrounding a war, a change of governing tradtion, a religion I barely understand, a people who still operate under a tribal kinship, and a previous economy aimed at primarily enriching one family and a minority social sector plus 100 billions barrel of oil languishing beneath the desert's sands.

I've never been very good at chess, so I lose interest in trying to figure out the possibilities of outcome based upon how I think all these players and their uncertain factors will evolve into a "new" country with a world wide financial impact. Yet, I know that somewhere there are sleeping dinars, which belong to me, and will someday awaken with the power of a bottled genie.

In the meantime, there will be lots of speculation about when and how much, and what one's strategy should be based upon what initially happens with the dinar, and oh God what to do with this new found wealth etc., etc. Which unless you are a member of the ruling body of the Central Iraqi Bank or a high financial official in the struggling government, the when and how much is mostly speculation.

It would be great if it happened tomorrow, but it will still be great if it doesn't happen for a few more years. What one needs to remember to be cautious about, is believing the speculation, and taking it to heart for what you expect to happen. Expectation came lead to disappointment, and that's when the negativity comes out, and the mud begins to fly.

So, hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. In the meantime, let that genie sleep knowing that one day, when it's ready, it will awaken, no matter how much fretting and pacing about you do.

Wishing us all success,

harrisomi
