From the Spanish main to the Barbary coast, these men plillage and plundered, yes pirates!

In olden times, pirates were known to stash their treasure or gold on some uncharted or distant island marked with an X. Too bad they didn't have E-gold back then. But one thing remains the same, there are still pirates after our loot! They are known as scammers, phishers, spybots and trojans.

Who is out to get our E-gold?
I think those of you know what scammers are. Phishers are indentity thieves, they steal your passphrase to rob your account. The ppl send email messages in hopes that you will reply with your info. Never reveal your passphrase. Nobody asks you for it. Another way is to have link to a supposed e-gold account from the email these phishers send out to make you click. Don't. Go to e-gold by typing in the address. Spybots on the other hand sneakily inhabit your computer and go through your stuff (files and folders) looking for useful info like creditcard no. passphrases and such. They also may send in what you type or key log hoping that you are typing a passphrase to an account. Trojans named for their deceptive namesake the Trojan Horse is a deceptive program that may seem harmless but carries a deadly payload inside hence the name. It may sabotage your computer, key log or link you indirectly to be phished! It all depends on what the trojan program was carrying.

What do I do?
How to deal with the menace of spybots and trojans? We can install a program called Spybot SD. I takes care most of the menace and follow up with Symantec Norton Anti-Virus. You can obtain Spybot SD for free at www.download.com but you have to buy Symantec Norton Anti-Virus. Spybot is quite reliable but not full proof as with any other anti-virus or spybot software. That's why we need to have 2 programs in case one fails. Update their virus list always!

Why only 2 and not 10? If you are at an airport and 20 guards check you before you board a plane? Go figure.

Is that all?
No. Here are some precautions to take. When logging into your E-gold account make sure you use the SRK option to type your passphrase. I prevents keyloggers and spybots from knowing what you write.

Make sure you set your Account Sentinel. It's the one that ask you for a One time Pin Challege. Do not disable this, although it is cumbersome as it prevent unauthorized access. E-gold's Account Sentinel™(also referred to as AccSent™) enhances the security of your e-gold account by enabling you to direct the circumstances under which your e-gold account may be accessed.
This protection options can be set to detect any browser changes (I/E or Firefox), IP address changes, computer access (home/work), one time pin challenge. Which can serve as a deterent for somebody accessing your account.

Also beware of services offering to manage your E-gold Acc. I have recieved such an offer. Beware! Only you and you alone manage your E-gold!!!

Lastly remember to log out every time you finish with E-gold.

In light of many complaining that their e-gold got hacked, the recent one being the HE2, I emailed E-gold for more security precautions.

In addition to reviewing the security recommendations off our homepage there are three security recommendations we would like to make to you in case you are not currently doing them.

1. You may want to consider book marking the e-gold IP address versus
the URL as your e-gold bookmark and only access it via your bookmark.
The IP to bookmark is https://209.200.169.10. The reason for doing
this is there are viruses such as this one:
http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/defau...&virus_k=99469 that plant fake entries in the host file which windows then uses
instead of the correct IP address for the site. Using the e-gold IP address
versus the URL will bypass this type of Trojan. Also, never access your
e-gold account via an email message even if the message appears to come from e-gold.

2. Always use the SRK feature to access your e-gold account never type
it in! You should first change your passphrase using the SRK feature. If
your passphrase is changed using the "SRK" feature and the account is only
accessed using the "SRK" feature, then your passphrase will be
protected even if there is a Trojan virus on your computer. However, this is
true only if you are at the correct e-gold site. To ensure you are always
at the e-gold site, you may want to click the box next to your account number on the login page that says, "Store my account number on my computer". In the future when you attempt to log into your account and if the account number is not displayed, you should be wary of entering your passphrase because you may be at a fake e-gold site.

a. Log into your account using your current passphrase.
b. Click on the button that says, "account info"
c. Scroll down to passphrase box and click in the box.
d. Click on the button that says SRK
e. A small window will pop up on your screen
f. Enter your new passphrase by clicking on the numbers, letters or symbols in the pop-up window. You will see *** being added to the passphrase box as you use your mouse to click on the numbers, letters or symbols. *See note g. When ready to confirm your passphrase click on the arrow on the bottom right hand corner of the pop-up window.
h. Confirm new passphrase using the same procedure f. Click update passphrase.

*Note: For upper case letter click on the upper case "ABC", for lower
case letters click on the lower case "abc", for numbers click on the "123",
for symbols click on the "sym"

3. If you are making a spend via the e-gold shopping cart interface
(SCI) always confirm you at the actual e-gold site. To verify you are
at the actual e-gold site when using the SCI spend page, double click on
the gold security lock and verify that the certificate was issued to
www.e-gold.com and that the certificate was issued by verisign and is
valid from 11/22/2004 to 12/1/2006. You can also review the certificate
details and make sure the certificate
serial number is: F84F 522C E958 A443 5A37 8934 6D77 2D70 096C 6A82.

I've been writing about LMI and enjoying it. I just want to stress that I am just practising some common business sense not teaching something new.
I use the notepad in my Windows to jot down any idea articles that I may have or any references. Then I sit down and write. If I think its interesting, I post it but not before tweaks and edits.

Okay,let me fill you in on what I've been doing. So far I have invested in 7 investment, 1 is pending (HE1), 2 were scams, 1 unknown, which leaves

1. Gold Trade - Pays USD0.81 cents daily
- Pays USD0.12 cents daily

2. Solid Investment - Pays USD0.54, currently compounding

3. Fast Percent - Pays USD0.61, currently compounding
- Pays USD0.16, currently compounding

I have added about USD5-USD6 into my GT and FP accounts. If you check your e-gold, currently the price of gold is at USD561 for one troy ounce which makes your e-gold account have excess. I invested the excess/ gain to take advantage of the situation.

E-gold High make spends as you use up less gold.
E-gold Low make withdrawls as you get more gold.

this isn't an hyip. i posted about this but forgot to give it a subject.

there seems to be an up and coming opportunity in chinese stocks. many
chinese company's stocks were off limits to the citizens of china. which is kinda sick.
but this ban is supposed to lift in about 2 months. once it does a ----load of chinese will very likely have a field day - which of course boosts the stocks.
so i'm obviously wondering which stocks.
