I don't believe this is strictly true. Yes SUNday the name (all the days and most of the months) is from the pagan past, however just because it is SUNday Christians they do not celebrate the Sun god, it is against their religeonQuote:

Sounds suspiciously with pagan rootsQuote:

I cannot for one moment imagine that everything we see, all life, time and space came about by cosmic accident. The Big Bang theory does not sufficiently explain the something from nothing. And inconsistencies make it ludicrous.
We are led to believe that about 18 to 20 million years ago all the matter in the universe was concentrated into one dense region smaller than a full stop. It was spinning really fast and it spun faster and faster and it exploded. And bits split off and became galaxies and suns and moons and stars and planets.
If you put some kids on a merry go round, and then spin them increasingly faster in a CLOCKWISE direction. There are four phases that these kids will go through.
Phase 1 - the kids scream “faster faster.”
Phase 2 they stop screaming to concentrate on hanging on.
At phase 3 where they start screaming again, “stop stop,”
And at phase 4, the kids start to fly off. If you watch carefully, as they fly, they will also be spinning in a clockwise direction, that is until they encounters a tree, telephone pole or something. The scientific law that the child is observing in flight is THE CONSERVATION OF ANGULAR MOMENTUM. If a spinning object breaks apart in a frictionless environment, (which is what the big bang is), all the pieces that fly off will spin in the same direction as the original object, because the outside is moving faster then the inside. So if the universe started as a spinning dot, everything should be spinning the same way.
Did you know that at least two of the planets in our system are spinning backwards, (Venus and Uranus) 8 of the 91 known moons are spinning backwards. Some whole galaxies are spinning backwards. Does the law of the conservation of angular momentum negate the possibility of the big bang theory being fact? Think about it.
a religious thread - good.
here is an interesting site that has scientific evidence of the Exodus for those maybe in doubt about Biblical roots. From a Swedish scientist I understand that Imax theature has done a movie in this.

Also here is another site by an archeologist that has videos of
the exodus noahs ark site (a turkish national monument) sodom and Gomorrah
and the Ark of the Covenant and evidence of Joseph in egypt.

in the beginning God created the last thing he created was marriage and 7thday rest.(by the way the hebrew word for 7th means time) all made for planet earth and its inhabitants.
Its interesting to note that that many native americans kept a seven day rest week
if you lived in the woods all your life you would notice that the animals are less active on a certain day than others. Many other laugauges their Saturday is Sabbath or rest.
Last time I checked everything that was created is still here including the sun and moon and marraige, but that has lost its meaning as well as rest day, no where do I find God changing his mind about these things or the specific day.
Papal Rome claimed to have authority over all this but just because they say so doesnt mean they do.(I know I would not presume to tell God what to do.)
Whats funny to me is the Christian world says the 10 commandents are so important but they ignore the 4th one or find excuses not to.
they made a big stinky deal in Alabama about them being taken out of the courthouse. Why are they are so important if they dont do them all?
breaking one is like breaking all.

Great post Denim,
I always liked one explanation I heard by a 'scientist' on TV about the Big Bang Theory.....
"First there was nothing, then it exploded". LOL ;-)
Of course this is an excellent theory to hold to if you don't wish to be accountable to anybody but yourself I guess.
To bring order out of chaos, we must put in outside energy or information: instructions, codes, blueprints, and effort. Order comes from chaos only if someone makes it happen. Time plus chance always leads toward chaos, not order, without the intervention of outside intelligence.
Try this at home, next time the mess in your garage needs cleaning, sit back and watch that surprisingly nothing happens until there is some input of effort from you.
Next they'll be telling us the speed of light is a constant and really isn't slowing down in predictable quantized increments.
Do you really think some devine force made the universe and all beings therein?
yes explain how it got here any other way
That's what we have scientists for.............I am not a scientist...........Quote:

I for one, will not dismiss the scientific approach just because it takes time to find the answers.....And I will not be content with the easy answer "God made the universe" either........:waiting:
