Personal Spending

Stocks rallied on the first day of the fourth quarter thanks to a positive report on personal spending. (Read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

Core PCE Price Index (MoM):
August PCE Price Index rose 0.2% Rate on Month; rose 1.5% on Year; August PCE Core Price Index rose 0.1% Rate on Month; rose 1.4% on Year.

Personal Income/Spending (MoM):
July Spending Unrevised at +0.4%; July Personal Income Unrevised at +0.2%; U.S. Personal Spending +0.4% in August; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.3%; U.S. Personal Income rose 0.5% in August; Compared to Consensus of an increase by 0.3%.

University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index:
End-September Expectations 60.9; End- September Current Index 79.6; End- September Sentiment 68.2.

University of Michigan Inflation Expectations:
12-Month Inflation Forecast rose 2.2%; 5-Year Inflation Forecast rose 2.7%.

ISM Manufacturing Index:
U.S. ISM September Manufacturing PMI 54.4 versus August 56.3; U.S. ISM September Manufacturing PMI Expected 54.0; U.S. ISM September Prices Index 70.5 versus August 61.5; U.S. ISM September Employment Index 56.5 versus August 60.4; U.S. ISM September New Orders Index 51.1 versus August 53.1; U.S. ISM September Production Index 56.5 versus August 59.9; U.S. ISM September Inventories Index 55.6 versus August 51.4.

Construction Spending (MoM):
U.S. Construction Spending rose 0.4% in August; Compared to Consensus of a decrease by 0.5%; July Construction Spending Revised to -1.4% from -1.0%.
