Keyword research products can cost a lot for someone who is starting off new. Although the information provided is valuable, I want to show you a technique that will help you get your website SEO Friendly without spending anything in the beginning.


Google Research Tip 1
The auto-complete feature in the Google search bar can provide exellent information for both getting new ideas, and finding valuable keywords to use on your website.

Keyword Idea: Dog Grooming
Typing Dog Grooming in Google will give you auto completed keywords that people have previously searched. Typing the next keyword provided will give you more keywords extended to what is already typed. A search will give you competition for that keyphrase.

Example: Dog Grooming "techniques" - "techniques book" - techniques book introduced the keyword "Basic" at the beginning of the Keyphrase.
Now perform a search on "Basic Dog Grooming Techniques Book"
SERP "Search Engine Results Page": about 1,380,000 results

Example: Dog Grooming "tips" - "tips and" - tips introduced the keywords "tricks" , "At Home" and "Pictures" to the Keyphrase.
Now perform a search on "Dog Grooming Tips And Tricks"
SERP: about 241,000 results


As you can see, I have discovered that "Dog Grooming Tips and Tricks" has far less results, aka, competition.
Keyword competition tools provide the same information but add many more useful details such as SEO power of competition, Faster results of best possible keywords and so on. Like I mentioned they usually cost a lot for beginners. This simple technique will get you familiar with Keyword usage before you purchase any software.


Google Research Tip 2

A newer addition to Google search is the "Search Tools"
This can be effective when looking for keyphrases to write articles around.

Click "Search Tools" and select "Reading level" - Now perform a search on your favorite keyphrase.
SERP: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced with the percentage of results pertaining towards each.

If the results show that 95% is Advanced, then writing basic articles around this keyword will attract those having a hard time searching for basic information. Same goes for the reverse. If you feel you can get very sophisticated and in detail on a topic that pertains to 95% basic readers, your writings will certainly standout towards those in the advanced field.


Google Research Tips and so on

Take notice of other features such as Location and Time filtering provided by Google and use this with the first tip to find the Best possible keyphrases to write about.
