...DBS group and ANZ bank have begun making transactions abroad with the contracts linked to the future value of the VND. The contracts worth $50mil that trade monthly may be double in a year, according to an estimate by Standard Chartered Bank.

Vietnam has lessened monetary controls this year and has announced its plan to push up the selling of state owned assets. The new currency market will give investors more opportunities to gain profit in the economy, which saw the growth rate of 7.7% in the first quarter, and the figure may reach 8.3% this year as forecast by the Asia Development Bank.

According to Peter Soh, Foreign Exchange Director in Singapore under DBS group, the biggest bank in Southeast Asia, all believe that Vietnam will follow the path China has gone, and that the VND will increase in value.

It is... and there's a different perspective we are dealing with concerning a culture that has roots and humility when addressing the dificult steps to modernisation and coming out of the doldrums at whatever costs!!!

I just accessed and later talked with some brokers dealing on behalf of DBS-Vickers...that I have an Invest account and Vietnam...is COMPLETELY different to the Iraqi quest to rehabilitate with all help from all sides but when you have sectarian rivalry playing and calling the shots...like in Iraq, a hotbed of perpetual violence backed by insanity and mad mullahs ruling around???

Thats like dealing with 3 devils in an arena... The Sunnies, the Shiites and the maronites made up of both primarilly!!!

There's no progress here, perhaps if there is one...it is skirming the surface and only when the opportunity is given...like the saying goes, when the cat is away...out pops the mice again...:mad:

Look at Japan... honor and compromise and reconciliation are the key factors to harmony and success...apart from that renegade Kim in his "Kimhole" up north, Asain countries are better potentials to focus prosperity and business when the word is given!

Vietnam is one such determined country bent on seeing it work...they don't allow these foolish drawback of religion(s) to destroy modern day progress that is inevitable...they know what lost lives meant fighting off the French and GIs were... its time to get wise and smart and friendly with everyone... that is good business sense to economic recovery...

Its Ding Dong all the way...so I was told too with my DBS branch Manager early this afternoon, local time.:thumbsup:
